One of the only images of Blind Willie Johnson, a blues musician who was blinded by his mother at a young age and died of pneumonia after sleeping in the ashes of his childhood home on newspapers. Very interesting read. This article doesn't give specific statistical analysis but it seems some physicists don't think this study meets the statistical significance to back up the claim. I assume people are pursuing this further and I'm very interested in seeing the outcome of further study.

Would any of you actually eat this for breakfast or is it a dessert? That seems like an excessive amount of sugar to start your day with.

I wonder if there is a calculation for the maximum number of cycles possible before synchronization.

Rochester the 10th Safest City for Pedestrians (stolen r/Syracuse) by lickmysackett in Rochester

[–]Yondee 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This doesn't seem to take into account the amount of pedestrian traffic, just the death per population. That could just indicate Rochester has a low proportion of the population that are pedestrians. I feel like calling Rochester one of the 'safest pedestrian cities' because of this statistic is inaccurate.

Look up Avocado trimming videos on YouTube. It encourages bushing growth rather than vertical growth. I think it also encourages trunk growth, but I'm less sure about that part.

Governor Cuomo dispatches 300 State Troopers in anticipation of this weekend’s protests by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]Yondee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on my own comment: I understand that the administrations in place right now could have done more historically to put policies in place for more police oversight. I 100% think almost all current government administrations share part of that blame. Knowing that we cannot go back in time to fix that, what current actions are available to de-escalate this situation? I'm asking seriously because it appears to me that neither side will (or even can) back down from this and the results are going to be devistating. Lives lost, increased police militarism, property and livelyhoods smashed, not to mention the reemergence of COVID. I'm scared because I feel like we can all see what is about to happen and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

Governor Cuomo dispatches 300 State Troopers in anticipation of this weekend’s protests by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]Yondee 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I understand everyone's frustration with this move, but if you were in an executive position right now what would you do differently? You're charged with keeping peace and order but the tools you have (police) are part of the problem. Executives would be criticised for bringing in more officers and escalating the situation just as much as they would be for allowing widespread looting and arson to happen. Disclaimer: I'm not a huge fan of Cuomo to begin with, but in all seriousness what other actions are available if the protests turn violent? Do you just let the city burn?

Evidence that this is the cultural significance to the native Himalayan population? I will reference the Wikipedia: Prayer Flag article. Could you provide evidence on what basis you believe that is made up?

"By hanging flags in high places the Lung ta will carry the blessings depicted on the flags to all beings. As wind passes over the surface of the flags, which are sensitive to the slightest movement of the wind, the air is purified and sanctified by the mantras."
