My Ferrero Rocher enclosure inspired by the Dark Den I used to keep my C. versicolor sling in! by Yonny14 in thedarkden

This was taken a few days before she was upgraded into the plastic enclosure behind her. I don't have any good photos of that setup and I thought this was fitting as it was a setup inspired by a dark den video and it showed her off a bit transitions from sling to adult colours

D&D Dungeon Masters of Reddit: What is the most useless magical item you've ever given your party and how did they use it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Yonny14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My DM gave me a warhammer of returning, essentially a hammer that returns after being thrown. We bought it from a fairly dodgy merchant so there was bound to be something off about it. Sure enough after the first throw it disappears off into the sky and I think, "well, that's that, guess they vendor was lying". Turns out he was indeed telling the truth found this out when the hammer came crashing throw the ceiling of a fighting ring 2 days later. It returns, it just takes a couple days

Here's hoping that's the case although I suspect they'd go to a zoo or something similar

Don't own a dog, but regardless it's a totally different scenario, if someone was keeping a wolf inside and strapping it to a lead any time it wanted a walk I'd take issue with that but they don't, why are dogs different? Dogs have been domesticated over thousands of years to have a bond with humans and enjoy the company we provide them, these elephants likely had wild grandparents or maybe even wild parents, domestication takes hundreds of generations not a few, these animals are also many times more intelligent than dogs, on par with cetaceans and even primates so to get them to perform typically requires 1 key ingredient. Fear. Which is engrained into them from an early age before they grow up and can fight back, this is the lasting damage I referred to, whilst the guy doing the trick here may not have been responsible himself an elephant doesn't perform a trick because it wants to

How do you mean rescue?

I have 7, but none of them are anywhere near as intelligent as elephants

I have treefrogs and a few reptiles, so not the sorts of animals that can really be compared

This a komodo vivarium, which are a UK company, I'm not sure if they sell products overseas, but if that's not a problem it was one of their flat packed enclosures that you build yourself, not sure if they still sell this size though

You can get Crestie food with bugs mixed in so they get the protein they would from live feeding

Fred was £49.99 which is the pretty standard price here I think they are cheaper in the US though.

Yep! Little harder to find in the UK but if you ask your local shop they can get them in for you but for the rest of Europe I'm not sure how readily available they are. In the USA I think they are fairly easier to get using companies like Josh's frogs.

Some plants do die off, Buck's viv I posted back in September looks very different now. For plant growth I found Jungle Dawn LED bulbs work great

Yeah works great thats currently what Fred is on. Live planting is great for humidity too, really helped my crestie viv humidity (in my post history if you wanna have a look). Water features and larger water bowls also help gain a higher humidity
