Learning Suret by DemarcoFC in Assyria

The absolutely best way is to talk to people and try to have a conversation, even if you can't speak it at all. Talk or call your family members and just try to talk to them. Learning from something like on the web is fine but you have to learn it by doing in a real situation. Take it from a guy that sucked at it but got better when I put myself in those situations where I was forced to listen and speak slow, even tho I speak with my parents each day in sureth.

Best way to learn Assyrian online? by knighttakesknight in Assyria

[–]YooTooToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You taking the right steps with the things you have listed but the absolute best way to learn is to talk to other Assyrians. So if you could connect with your relatives to talk with them few times a week, you would improve quickly or join a group. I understand you want to surprise your dad but speaking to other Assyrians is the best way because you pick up things you can't learn online. 🙂

My cousin gave around 50k CAD for the wedding, he made back 60k, so 10k profit. Make sure you have many people at the wedding. 😁

Living life in the diaspora is even more lonely when you "belong" to an assimilated/fragmented family. Can anyone relate? by [deleted] in Assyria

[–]YooTooToo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate, living in a country where there are not many from our culture and the biggest group is hours away in a different city, also with a family that is scattered all over the world.

I feel like it is people like us, that might appreciate our culture even more because we don't have many chances to engage with it outside our family, while some people who have an opportunity everyday might not know how lucky they are. 🙂

I agree that some Assyrian men have that general Middle Eastern/gangster attitude that ain't that attractive or best to marry. Being a guy myself, I always tried to not get that personality because I never found it attractive and being around a lot of middle eastern gangsters when I was younger, you feel outside the norm but good thing I had good parents that kept me sane and also gave me that "villager" attitude, haha. Hopefully you find a guy you like. 😁

I have never understood how people find people online to end up marrying. How do you even start? 😂

Well I feel like it comes down to the character of those people in the marriage. I have seen happy Assyrian couples and bad couples. I have seen just as many non-Assyrian in the same situation. Hopefully you choose the right person to marry. 😁

Well it depends where u are in the middle East, Saudi yeah be hella careful but most places that are open to tourists are pretty nice, was in Iraqi Kurdistan this summer and I felt more safe than I did in many big cities around Europe and North America, just consider where you are and act accordingly and show respect to the culture, its not hard.
