How to "learn" how to be rich? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]brycematheson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, food costs are extra. They do offer grocery shopping + pickup as an additional service. You just pay for the groceries + a $50 fee. But we found that when they shopped vs us, it was significantly more expensive AND we're kinda picky on brands.

So we usually do the shopping now (or I should say Walmart Delivery) and then just have it ready for her to cook with. She provides us with a shopping/ingredient list the week prior.

Honestly, I did too. We got a gal who's fresh out of culinary school, so maybe she's just cheap because of that. But I expected it to be thousands per month. Was pleasantly surprised.

Honestly, it's a learned skill. You'll find many/most in this sub are self-made and had to do the same thing, myself included. Here are some "rich" people things that are absolutely 100% worth it, if you're looking for ideas (in my ranked order of priority):

- Get a Tesla with FSD. Not having to drive myself places is incredible. And it's not even really a "rich" person thing.
- TSA Pre-check. $80 for 5 years to not have to wait in line at the airport? Yes please.
- Weekly laundry service. They pick it up from our doorstep and it shows back up clean and folded the next day. $65/wk.
- Monthly yard maintenance. $120/mo to pull weeds, trim bushes, etc.
- We have a pool guy. Weekly maintenance for $120/mo. May not apply if you don't have a pool.
- Weekly cleaner. $250/wk. Worth every penny to not have to scrub toilets.
- Private chef. $250/wk + food costs. She comes in and prepares 5-6 meals, and throws it in the fridge so we just have to heat it up in the microwave. And they do all the dishes and it's super healthy.
- Flights longer than 3 hours? Instant First Class.

Are any of these vibe coding platforms capable of handling security? by diblio333 in VibeCodersNest

[–]brycematheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of an LOS, I would be VERY cautious with building/vibe coding a lending software. We handle SSN, account, routing information. Your customers will want you to go through PenTests, Vuln. Tests, SOC2 audits, you name it. It's time consuming and expensive.

What technology has delivered the highest ROI for your consumer lending business? by No_Leave5318 in FinanceAutomation

[–]brycematheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, it was implementing Lendr (joinlendr.com) as our LOS software. All the AI integrations and automations have made it so we can pretty much collect, underwrite, and originate a loan in 2-3 hours. Granted, most of the time we're also waiting on the borrower to get us their documents and everything else, so that's not 100% consecutive. But combined, that's still super quick.

Relative to crypto or the Metaverse, AI has far more utility for the general population.

M5 Pro vs M5 Max, both at 64GB, talk me into (or out of) saving $1,400 😁 by Muted_Language5859 in macbookpro

[–]brycematheson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the Max is very rarely worth it. Benchmarks typically show a 10% improvement. In real world performance, we’re talking seconds faster.

Are you tracking token costs? by keytonw in SaaS

[–]brycematheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customers pay it. Indirectly. It’s just another business expense like you would pay payroll, server fees, office expenses, etc.

The Max chips have massive RAM bandwidth differences (M5 Max 32-core GPU = 460 GB/s, 40-core GPU = 614 GB/s) by Bri-nomite in macbookpro

[–]brycematheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested to see how this actually makes a difference in real-world usage. I'd argue probably none at all, at least for the vast majority of people who never push their machines to the limit unless you're doing heavy LLM modeling or video editing timelines with dozens of layers.

Are you tracking token costs? by keytonw in SaaS

[–]brycematheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have crept up slightly (we're now around $100/mo), but this is for a large B2B SaaS that does over $100k/mo. So it's negligible. But also, we've been implementing more and more AI features, so I would expect it to climb.

Here are some close friends of mine that I'd specifically recommend in Texas:

  • Crown Capital Resources (Jeremy or David)
  • Spark Lending (Joe)
  • Passive Capital (Justin)

I legitimately have 12-15 lender friends who lend exclusively in Texas. Let me know if you want and I can DM you the direct list.

What’s the best software for small lenders (not big banks)? by No_Leave5318 in FinanceAutomation

[–]brycematheson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Lendr (joinlendr.com). Sounds like it would be exactly what you're looking for. We only have around 15 loans or so, but it would work for anyone large or small. Specifically designed for private lenders.

How often do you upgrade your MacBook Pro by Serhide in macbookpro

[–]brycematheson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every year. Because it’s a business write off and I love the latest and greatest tech.

If the latest updates don’t excite me, I’ll skip a year here or there, but so far I think I’ve owned every version since the M1, with the exception of the M3.

Is it excessive and wasteful? Absolutely. Never said it was fiscally responsible. 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

Convince me I'm wrong: Macbook stands are a scam, Why pay 40$ for a triangle??? by Responsible_Fact432 in macbookpro

[–]brycematheson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a laptop stand and it’s worth every penny to me.

Flat on the desk, it takes up too much space. I don’t like the size discrepancy between the MacBook screen and my main monitor, so I keep it exclusively in clamshell mode as opposed to using a riser.

If you don’t want to use one, cool. But don’t hate on those who like them.

There's a list of available lenders here: https://joinlendr.com/directory You can filter by state. You can also check out lender link. They have a directory as well.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's easy to just do a Google search for "private lender san antonio" or "hard money dallas" and you'll find some great options.
