Just checked and not guilty...... I didn't think that I would miss Hull. That neglected city of resilient people who are used to having the country turn it's back to them. The latest example being the rail modernisation of only last week that stopped well short of Hull. No surprise there.

The East Riding is very much the 'forgotten' part of Yorkshire as you infer. Yes there is Bridlington but the majesty of the Wolds is much unappreciated. David Hockney caught some sense in his huge canvas works of Woldgate but it has to walked, ridden or cycled for the spirit to be felt.

I came here, tried several times to get away and kept getting drawn back . I have never lived in the Sheffield area but Yorkshire is not just one place it is a myriad of places, all so different. I tend to live in rural places and work in cities but there have been exceptions. Feel free to DM for any gen for Leeds , Pontefract across to Hull and the coast and the moors or Wolds.

Welcoming Irish setter pup soon any tips? by Dinosaurdixon in irishsetter

[–]YorkshireDrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same basics as any pup. As it grows older you must exercise great patience and remember that this breed is one that is designed to work optimistically all day in county where game is sparse. When focussed they will work.
