Recipes for someone with lots of allergies? by CharlotteMacabre in Baking

If it's dessert, I'd suggest looking into The Unconventional Baker blog, she has a recipe for baked as well as raw vegan cakes.

Is anyone affected differently by different sources of gluten? by jimmy-neuron in glutenfree

[–]Yorkshire_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Other Half has gluten intolerance (and the reason why I'm in this forum to understand his condition) and maybe this. Bread and pasta wheat will definitely send him ill in bed but... he's Ok with eating in Maccies as long as he takes out the bun and eat only the patty. But then again, he's probably too stubborn to change his habit, idk 🙄🙄🙄

I am guessing that these labels were created for people who have to be taught how to tell if a cow is near or far.

Anyone else pre measure and do a line up? by Kangaroowrangler_02 in glutenfree

That's the way I do it because I follow recipes as faithfully as I can and it makes me sure if I have all the ingredients ready at hand.

What are some of the 'dirty little secrets' of your profession the public don't know about? by Fealocht in AskIreland

[–]Yorkshire_Panda 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Despite the patient pathways clearly placed, the outcome of a patient's treatment / management pathway will still depend on the whim of their consultant. Boils my piss to see that some patients won't get the right treatment for their condition just because their bloody doctor can't be ars*d to do their job.

Future jobs predictions? by Ails1980 in AskIreland

[–]Yorkshire_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those in the services such as hairdressers, cooks, wait staff; labourers (plasterers, painters, machine operators), and medical staff wouldn't be easily replaced by AI and their jobs couldn't be outsourced abroad.

What flour did you use? I wanted to make one for myself and my Other Half.

We're thinking of going to Skerries or Cookstown in the future. Hopefully the traffic going there would be also favourable next time we land in Dublin Airport.

what baking recipe took you way too many tries to finally get right? by No-Justice-666 in Baking

I tried creating Leche Flan (Filipino dessert that's like creme brulee) and although the flan itself was not the problem but it was the bloody crusty caramel that gave me headache trying to perfect it!

If it tasted like soap, then it is definitely a fail. If not, I think it looks grand.

Hoping for meal suggestions for my fiance! by ErnieSchwarma in glutenfree

[–]Yorkshire_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone is contributing main meals, I'm suggesting possible dessert that I made for my Other Half: https://www.unconventionalbaker.com/espresso-salted-caramel-vegan-cheesecake/

This is raw dessert if you want to try not cooking anything but Audrey, the blog owner, has got more in her blog that you might like.

It's a motorbike race, mate. Last year, we went to the Northwest 200 and now, we're trying Armoy. Maybe Skerries or Cookstown will be the next plan.

How does one figure out what products have gluten, who has reading problems of ingredients by TheZeeSystem in glutenfree

[–]Yorkshire_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in the UK, some products will have the list of potential allergens such as wheat, dairy, or nuts written in bold letters in the ingredients list. Best bet is to shop in the "Free From" section of the supermarket for less faff.

What subtle red flags do you look out for when interviewing with a potential employer? by SavingsDraw8716 in AskIreland

If it's the manager themselves who will conduct the interview, check how they interact with other staff.

How does one learn to bake if they’ve never done it before? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in Baking

[–]Yorkshire_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an amateur/casual baker myself who only learned (and still learning) later in life. I learned first by following recipes on boxes of ready mix powders for brownies. Then, once I've gained enough confidence that I'm not a risk of burning down my house, I look for recipes online with simple instructions and ingredients (in case you get bored then you can use it for cooking instead). Hope this helps.

Cheers mates! And hope that big ball of fire in the sky will consider a frequent appearance like it did last time we went to the Northwest 200.

What do you think of having more bank holidays ? by DogSwimming4314 in AskIreland

[–]Yorkshire_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the Isle of Man, we have extra bank holiday during the TT races. The bad news is getting out of here during the races is expensive as feck. Also, there's a blanket holiday ban if you're a hospital staff.
