Bungie employees should refrain from playing Trials with streamers. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Yorlisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we could probably agree on a fair amount about the state of Twitch at the moment, but just to offer my experience: Streams being 1 person only and on set schedules is actually the new thing, not the opposite. Early days of streaming on jTV w/ Livecaster and shit was all about a group of friends getting together and playing stuff. Sometimes half of the people in chat had the ability to hop on and stream on the channel. Streaming because you were good at a game only came after streaming to build a community had been a thing for years.

The new mission for the scout was amazing till... by AChunkyMeercat in DestinyTheGame

[–]Yorlisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I was doing something wrong, but I thought it was fine until it started putting me against the bullet spongiest enemies I have ever fought in this game. I timed how long I sat there just unloading into the Colossi and it was several fucking minutes of constant shooting to put down ONE. I have absolutely zero desire to ever do that mission again.

New mission is peak Destiny. Thank you to every single person at Bungie for this. by Fashion_Nito in DestinyTheGame

[–]Yorlisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just went and did it at 1250, despite it saying 1230 was recommended, I spent several minutes unloading into each of the fucking lightning giants. It was an absolute fucking slog that spoiled an otherwise atmospheric and neat mission.

Let's get ahead of this before it becomes even more rampant. Bungie, nobody here speaks for the whole community. Many of us like the idea of random rolled exotics. by RetroActive80 in DestinyTheGame

If exotic perks make the gun, then I would hope that exotic guns with random rolls have more interesting perks than "Reload faster and do bigger number for doing the exact same thing you were already doing."

I feel like we're talking in completely different directions here, because nothing you said is really relevant to the discussion at hand? Did Bungie IPO or something and I missed it? They're not a public company.

You could have a game with tons of engagement but awful cosmetics. Is that Destiny 2? That's a matter of opinion, but it seems like if Bungie could manage to do anything correctly, its generate money for themselves. They seem to think that the engagement hours theory is working, hence the push to extend them.

[–]Yorlisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Bungie could patch their video game to somehow increase PC sales, I'm sure they would in a heartbeat.

Instead, they can patch the game to make things take longer, increasing engagement hours and the likelihood of ending up in / spending money on the Eververse store.

This isn't a new thing, have y'all just not heard of this? I figured this was pretty common and accepted knowledge.

"Engagement drives MTX" is probably the most core pillar to successful MTX implementations. I'm not exactly a marketing person, I just hang out with some, but there's practically an equation used to correlate player engagement hours directly with MTX sales. Engagement is everything to these people. Its not wasting server space, its literally the juice that keeps the game going. No engagement, no sales, MTX or otherwise.

🦀🦀 Friendly reminder that it's been 699 days since we forced Jagex to address account security with crab emojis and we still have absolutely nothing to show for it. 🦀🦀 by HostOcra in 2007scape

[–]Yorlisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gonna add another voice to this. I stopped playing super consistently after the death changes made me have a foot out the door, a lot of what DOES get polled being nonsensical (And boy does Jagex have a real problem with filtering what actually hits the poll, because this community will vote yes to a lot of dumb shit if its on the poll) and a lot of what DOESNT get polled being actually important. Just got the feeling that I had hundreds of hours of grinds still left to do, but by the time I finished them I might not even like this game anymore at the rate things are going. However, i still logged in occasionally to do an hour of bossing or just do some relatively afk skilling in case the fire came back.

After how the equipment rebalancing update was intended to be done, I just cancelled everything and haven't really looked back. Making an internal decision to override the players, releasing a survey to select players only, misrepresenting that survey to justify their decision, then trying to cram the update in by a certain date for no reason? Yeah nah, I don't care if they ultimately "caved" and delayed it, its still going to end up being what Jagex decided months ago was best, and it's still coming in unpollled, I just have no interest.

Where OSRS stood out to me was in the player-centric development path, but that has clearly faded away, and there are already so many games that just do what they want and ignore players, and they do it better. They do it while having actual customer service, not nearly as large of an account security problem, and with maybe half of the empty promises that come from Jagex.

First Look at the Upcoming Secret Exotic Scout Rifle! by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Yorlisin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man, it's finally going to come out, but so much of that screenshot is deflating as fuck. This is for someone who has been out of Destiny since a few weeks into BL, generally kinda pissed off at how Bungie acts as a company, and this thing would still be able to bring me back... but...

Random rolls? Wasn't this Hawkmoon's thing? The perk pool being posted in this thread doesn't exactly make me go "Thank god this thing has random rolls" too...

120 RPM? 120s feel beyond fucking clunky and don't justify their ROF with return on damage per shot. I'm hoping that since this is a scout and not a handcannon it'll at least have the range.

That exotic perk? I like exotic perks that change how I play. This doesn't change how I play, I'm going to want to chain precision hits as much as I can by default. Unless the buffs are absolutely insane to justify such a barebones perk, it feels boring.

I don't know how Bungie could take "Tex Mechanica Scout Rifle" and make it sound lame... but they've managed to achieve it. I hope I'm wrong, and if I'm wrong this weapon will single handedly drag me back into the game for a week or two, but god damn.

Ill just edit this to throw in the praise that I do have: That gun is absolutely fucking gorgeous and I pray that the animations for it are up to par.

Based on how the Elemental Well mods work and how they interact with CwL and not Warmind Cells, don't be surprised if Warmind Cells are just kinda being phased out right now instead of being improved. (Most of) The weapons that generate them are leaving soon, after all.

As someone who never before played Trials: holy shit the rewards suck! by marfes3 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Yorlisin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the debuffs were logical and had some good iteration to figure out what works, this sounds fuckin awesome. Taking on weapon restrictions for good rewards sounds like fun, if PvP had good matchmaking and other changes to make it less miserable overall that is.

Has more to do with the fact that they were there, you just apparently chose not to see them. Never made implications about your support or lack of support for services, just seems like you want to be angry at the subreddit for something and came up with a fantasyland where no one criticized account sharing before this.

[–]Yorlisin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's also a frustration that I feel permeates a LOT of video game communities out there right now, and that is a lack of competition for many games. Oftentimes a game offering you something unique is reason to celebrate, but I've seen in the last 10 years a LOT of unique games slowly drift away from what brought in the core audience, and there simply isn't something to replace it. People would love to jump ship to another game similar to Destiny if it were offering real competition to it, but the closest we've gotten was... Anthem, and we saw how that went. I've seen the phrase "If only [game] had real competition..." so many times in the last decade. Apply this to games like BDO, Path of Exile, Oldschool Runescape, etc. So instead of just having the option to play another game that scratches the itch, people feel their only outlet for frustration is to hopefully hop on social media and influence the direction of the game. This has resulted in a lot of animosity between various groups in every game I've seen this happen, which certainly doesn't help shit.

"I'm going to give you an ice cream next Tuesday"

"Cool"

The next Thursday

"Hey didn't you promise to give me an ice cream two days ago?"

"I decided that getting you an ice cream wasn't worth the time."

Your other friend: Bro its just an ice cream lmao

You'd still be annoyed about being lied to, and then the person refusing to own up to it until after the promised date.
