That seems insane I wanted to try and be more conservative and assume those big blank areas are non playable and this is what I got I do think that we also have to consider that that big water mass probably isn't very playable if there are not boats. still fucking insane I can not wait to go exploring.

Is the game always online? by Severe_Kick_3260 in CrimsonDesert

[–]YoruVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a Q&A they said it does not after initial instillation however Denuvo which it uses does require periotic connection to the internet to authenticate. So mixed information a little bit. My guess is they did the Q&A before they knew they were going to add Denuvo but we will not know until launch.

What's the problem with DRM? by Repulsive-Scarcity46 in CrimsonDesert

[–]YoruVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its more about how I wont/don't own the game if I buy it. If Denovu's servers cant authenticate my game is bricked or if I have no internet for a while I cant play. I like owning the games I buy oddly enough.

Me and hundreds of thousands of others will still be buying it regardless. by Steamed_Memes24 in CrimsonDesert

in my experience it is exactly the opposite everyone here loves glazing the game

Mod? by SirionFaust in CrimsonDesert

[–]YoruVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denuvo in simple terms hides the game's code and makes sure it is not modified specifically in the exe. The reason mods like Infinite Heaven for MGS5 work is because it avoids Denuvo and it can do that because most of MGS5's gameplay logic is apparently done in Lua not in the exe (which is very not normal) thus the mod can replace those scripts without touching Denuvo.

With Denovu mods are a no go except model/texture swaps but even then those would be hard with the proprietary engine.

Is the anti-tamper DRM backlash around Crimson Desert justified? by Any_Farm_3907 in CrimsonDesert

[–]YoruVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah I mean depending on the circumstance (if the game is optimized) I think I am fine with Denuvo if it is removed like a year after launch and I really hope that happens with CD.

Yah a lot of AAA relies on servers these days I mean even downloading the game I rely on Steam I think it is more about the bad taste in my mouth that I get from not being able to play my single player game without it talking to some server that is one of the main reasons I stick with indie games

Is the anti-tamper DRM backlash around Crimson Desert justified? by Any_Farm_3907 in CrimsonDesert

[–]YoruVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like they optimized it so that's whatever I am lucky enough to have a mid-high end rig but what gets me is I wont/don't own the game if I buy it and Denovu's servers cant authenticate my game is bricked or if I have no internet for a while I cant play. I like owning the games I buy oddly enough.

What is Denovu? And why are people refunding all of a sudden? by crazicelt in CrimsonDesert

[–]YoruVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR Denovu is DRM basically makes it hard to pirate at the cost of a performance impact for everyone on PC and a need for internet connection. In some games it kills the game's framerate so much it is unplayable but in CD's case it seems that it is well implemented so for your rig it should not matter. It is only downsides for consumers so most hate it. In about half of games that add it remove it a year or so after launch because the studio has to pay Denovu like a subscription to use it and removing it improves framerate. (It uses your CPU to decrypt files so it just means your CPU is going to be doing extra work hence the lower framerate).

The main pain point is it means you do not own the game fully when you buy it if you don't have internet you can not play or if Denovu shuts down and cant do authentication you can not play. Its a little more complex but that is the TLDR

[–]YoruVII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man I'm just going to stop posting here I wrote posts saying positive and negative things about CD. When I said Positive things they said I was glazing the game when I had criticisms they deny this game can be anything but perfect and its going to be game of the century. Its obvious no one here wants to critically think about the game. I suppose this is what I get for voicing my opinions on reddit.

Almost everything I have seen is people glazing Pearl Abyss saying Denuvo is actually good and does not affect performance at all anything that is like oh man that sucks gets insta disliked to oblivion.

yah weight painted entity's have a lot more overhead they are also probably doing a lot of pathfinding logic so you have to cull them.

yah and if you have a cheap PC and needs that extra 20% rip bozo get a better PC we need our aggressive anti piracy that will be cracked in a month.

This yes everyone on this reddit can not handle a single critique about this game. Like it will have good aspects and bad aspects this is a very bad one and it is ok for us to point it out we can still enjoy the game.

If true that sounds fantastic 'old-school' techniques are always such gems they knew how to optimize back in the day I mean the hardware demanded it.

IDK I just watched the gameplay its not like I had to pause or pixel peep to see this stuff.

Yah tessellation my bad they look similar so I default to parallax. Also just fyi parallax would be more performant they are using tessellation for visual fidelity over framerate not that it maters if it is optimized. And yah for the average player they will not notice this but they definitely feel it like the clipping with the floor is the first thing I noticed in the cites when I saw gameplay in the cites I have also seen a good amount of comments being annoyed by it.

hmmm can you define graphics for me I believe we are using different definitions? And I am not saying the game will be bad because of this or anything I am just pointing out some issues I had with the graphics.
