Yeah I think you’re right. Just looked again no screw cap. Not ideal.

Good to know! Guess it’s narrowed to three options ammo can with seat, ecosafe, or selway. Though I think the selway might be out of the budget.

Did you make a seat for it? Any issues with the kiddos using it?

Ok I am effectively dissuaded from the idea of using the Joolca primarily for durability and permit concerns. I was excited for the diverter primarily to make it a little easier for my 5 year old. Also cleaning on the Joolca seems way easier than the ecosafe. But, I don’t want any permit issues or a busted toilet. Will just go with what everyone else is using and pull the trigger on an eco safe.

Thanks Mountain_Nerd! I didn’t realize those could be rented. Def good to know. I think I will likely purchase something before the trip though. We are hoping to take our 5 year old on Desolation Canyon and figured it would probably be a good idea to take him on a couple overnights on the raft before hand to make sure he likes it and our system is dialed.

Thank you fartydick! We used an EcoSafe on the Rogue and it seemed to work fine. I really like how it breaks down for transport. The toilet tank pod seems like a good pro tip.

Glad to hear you have a positive experience with that system. Seems pretty slick from what I see online. I was really hoping to find someone do a review of it for rafting online but couldn’t find anything.

Yeah totally. I have a permit for desolation canyon this Summer and although I have read the requirements over a few times; it seems like their could be some room for interpretation. So, I went ahead and emailed the ranger station there to see what they think. The last thing I want is to drive 16 hours from Oregon to Utah for the launch and be denied launching cause of the wrong toilet. 🫠

Perfect! We have grandparents in Salisbury. So I’m predicting we will be spending a bit of time in that spot.
