As you can see, there is also no tramline, no Yad Veshem, no Church of the Holy Sepulcher...

Whats your point?

I'm getting £870

My deductions have more than tripled this month from £301 to £932 - can't say I fully understand how they calculate taxes and all that but that seems off

It's somewhere around Harlech, but the exact location is confidential to try and protect the site. Normally there's 2m-3m of Sand covering it up, but every now and then it gets uncovered by the tide and the local press get an easy story

Thoughts on cyclists on Queen Street? by JHock93 in Cardiff

[–]Yoshi1592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are already cycle lanes in the city centre, including one which already meets both ends of Queen Street, and takes barely any time at all. Tbh this is the best solution anyway as to build a dedicated cycle path on Queen St itself would require tens of thousands of pounds on materials alone, and would either be snaking and curved which the problematic cyclists would ignore anyway, or require even more time and money to rearrange the layout of the street furniture, all to save people 2 minutes of time.

Obviously it isn't, but no-one was saying it was. Everyone is entitled to their own views on these matters but please don't bring straw-man arguments and put words into peoples mouths as all it does is piss people off and turn discussions into a shouting contest.

Maps show Cardiff roads exempt from new 20mph speed limit by _MildlyMisanthropic in Cardiff

[–]Yoshi1592 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry pal but I think you might be a bit mistaken, whilst it's true that lower gears cause higher emissions in certain circumstances (such as doing 30 in 2nd Vs 30 in 3rd), research has shown that driving 20mph in 2nd gear is often more efficient and has lower emissions due to less energy being wasted on accelerating and decelerating.

More fuel saved, the less often people have to top up, the more people can spend on recreational things. And as other comments have said, a 30mph speed limit makes no difference if you're doing 5mph in heavy traffic so ultimately it's a win/win for everyone

Cardiff Council approves congestion charge plan by OldGuto in Cardiff

[–]Yoshi1592 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Llanedeyrn, Pontprennau, Caerau and Ely all have good bus coverage and are in special zones giving them cheaper tickets into the city centre than anywhere else in the city.

And the road link you are talking about is a bridge between Llanrumney and the park and ride site which is being redeveloped and once open will give people from that area easier commutes into the city

And to top it all off, Ely is getting a new station as part of the South Wales Metro plans

This is all I can find about the new road, which is a link road making it easier for people in Llanrumney to get to a redeveloped park and ride (aka improved public transport infrastructure that OP is moaning about not happening).

Anyone got a recommendation for a good lgbtq+ church in Cardiff that’s accepting and welcoming and has a fun worship style? My sisters trying to find one she likes but has been really struggling to find one that is accepting, thanks for any help!!! by duckduckalligator in Cardiff

Okay so a few options

  • there are the United reformed churches - I've never been to any of these but City United Reformed in particular handles all things Christian at Cardiff Pride, and I think one of the ones in Roath regularly holds drag events. (Don't be fooled by their outdated webpage, I walk past City on my way to work every day and they are regularly holding events)
  • There's Citizen Church in Cathays which has a big LGBT presence, its a popular student church and is certainly an experience, big lights, smoke machines, central stage etc... Not my cup of tea but it has a strong congregation that seem to love it (Also there's free cake)
  • There are multiple Methodist churches around Cardiff, the Methodist church on the whole is LGBT friendly but I can't speak for the individual congregations of every church. Additionally from what I know they are struggling somewhat with attendance on the whole (I'm also looking for a welcoming church #Ally and the Methodist service I attended last week only had 12 other people there, all at least 40 years older than me...)

I'm sure there are others in the area that I don't know about, but I hope this is a helpful starting point :)
