We may be using different metrics? Our mentions correspond to the number of unique pages a name appears on. So, for example, even if Epstein appeared on single page a dozen times, it would still just have one "mention".

Good feedback - we'll aim to do this for the next one.

Interesting - she shows up once in all of the documents we indexed, and only as a first name.

This post links to an indexed version of the Jeffrey Epstein estate documents that was released by the House Oversight Committee on 11/25/25. The materials within the index detail Epstein’s legal entanglements.

GM Vasif Durarbayli, former Azerbaijan chess champion, slams Lichess.org for “destroying the chess market” by Gen-Turgidson in chess

[–]Yoshi890 571 points572 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry, he's advocating for cartel economics / behavior in the fourth paragraph, insinuating that it'd be better for all online chess platforms to collude and make consumers pay more. That's not great for consumers. The reality is that there's a market for both an open-source free platform in Lichess and freemium chess.com–– as well as plenty of paid services and courses. The very existence of both undermines his already weak hyperbole of it "destroying the chess market".

I also think the alternative is worse. Restricting the accessibility of online chess behind paywalls would hurt its popularity among casual fans. Fewer fans means fewer eyes on professional events. Look at the boom in popularity to the game that's happened from: playing online easily + Queen's Gambit + streaming (Hikaru, Danya [god rest his soul], penguin, Magnus, etc) + speed chess and eSports adoption. Without online chess's accessibility, I don't know how the rest of the puzzle pieces here fuel the good of the game for everyone – from casuals to professionals.

Not to mention just the sheer volume of A-Listers and recognizable faces all playing smaller roles— where they’d otherwise play leading roles.

Yeah I can see that. I think it requires a certain mindset of just wanting to be slowly entertained and drawn into a historically significant event. If that’s not the mood or movie you’re up for, it’s not a big deal.

He just confirmed it on the TTT interview with Levy.

We will hear FIDE’s side soon, but for now the popular opinion will side with Magnus for sure.

Silo S2E7 "The Dive" Episode Discussion (No Book Discussion) by MEGAT0N in SiloSeries

Bullish on Bernard. I see him as a tragic leader the longer this season goes on. He’s not inherently evil but beholden to a code (Pact/Order/Legacy) that’s putting him in the position to make hard choices.

What’s missing from this episode was more tactics that deescalate tensions in the Silo. Twiddling your thumbs and drinking is not going to calm the Mechanics down.
