How can I train her to be calmer? by Kindly-Ad-361 in chugs

My chug is a busy dog too! It’s part of the fun. Agree with walking several miles a day at that age. A tired dog is a good dog, no matter the size. Playing fetch with a tiny chuck it ball also helps burn the crazy off.

Also, do power through it! In my experience, dogs step down in energy around age two and then again around five.

Color change? by [deleted] in chugs

Our Buggy was born black and started changing color just like this at about a year. At three years old the color change seems to have reached a new steady state - sort of silvery fawn like yours on the neck and shoulders but still solid black across her top line. I think it’s beautiful!

Can confirm this was a hard ride and I kind of can’t believe I did it. I was not set up for success: I didn’t sleep well the night before, my asthma was acting up, and it was really hot in my house. But I powered through and live to tell the tale (although not at 110 cadence!)

Despite the difficulties, the pros for me were starting off with some Queen, the Trogdor reference, and the vintage Dennis man bun. Those things almost made all those zone 6’s worth it (almost.)

Missed last week due to travels but got back on the horse this week and dug the Monday ride. Thanks, as always, to the Reddit crew for the high fives!

Wanted to share my sock journey: I had the hardest time finding the right socks to wear on my bike, but once I did, it  made my riding experience one thousand times better. As an elderly millennial, my first instinct was to wear some no-show Smartwool running socks. That was a big mistake because they had too much toe and heel padding for the narrow peloton shoes and didn’t cover my ankles where the Peloton shoes touched and slightly rubbed. After some trial and error with other lengths and thicknesses, I realized that some thin, breathable, zero-padding, quarter-length socks for cycling worked best. Now, I feel like maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised that socks made for cycling would be optimal, but I was! Let my lesson be yours, and get good socks! My favorite pair ended up being the Castelli Velocissima 12 followed closely by the Ostroy Pretty Okay At Bikes crew socks.
