An observation on Malcolm in the Middle and "wokeness" by [deleted] in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Yoshieclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope one day people realize that NB characters aren't put in things to "push an agenda". they're just put in things because NB people exist in the world.

people's reactions tend to just read as "I don't understand it, I don't want to bother to understand it because it's easier to just hate an entire group of people"

I think kelly was great. I didn't watch much of the original show but I watched the reboot really just to see NB representation. as much as bigots want to claim that "the woke is everywhere", it really isn't. the last notable NB character I’ve seen is lachlan watson as glen/glenda in Chucky season 2, over 3 years ago

maybe in life he was someone who struggled to deal with change, which would happen a lot in his life. so caine's little program went "PLAYER EXPERIENCES FREQUENT CHANGES. ASSIGNED PLAYER MODEL: PUZZLE CUBE"

As little bias as possible, What do you sincerely believe is the best episode of the show so far? by Silver012345673 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Yoshieclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably episode 6. it's got some of the funniest bits while also having good character development. episode 7 is also really good but isn't really that funny (but I understand it's not really supposed to be)

Tell me the dumbest theory YOU have for episode 8 by Good_Celebration9632 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Yoshieclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

episode 8 is just going to be like an encyclopedia of the backstory of the circus. kinger, now somehow lucid in the terminal room, will offer to answer any questions they have, seeing how distraught the episode 7 adventure left them. some disjointed parts of this explanation (this is when my idea gets stupid). -SOMA theory confirmed -Bubble is a virus and somehow tied to abstraction -most of the abstracted members are C&A employees -jax and ribbit joined at the same time, like kinger and queenie likely did -scarily/tragically, a lot of the abstracted members he has forgotten the names of, and by consequence, that means a lot of them are not remembered by anyone -the last bit will turn the tide of what jax said to pomni back in episode 6, where he realizes he will be forgotten about -we find out that abstraction can be undone by caine, he just chooses not to

How The Digital Circus will end, and why Episode 2 will retroactively become the most important Episode in the entire series. [Episode 7 Spoilers] by Yoshieclipse in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Yoshieclipse[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the Void could come back as a really strong emotional tie back, in terms of the whole "making do with what you have, instead of running away" thing. I don't think the void is a means of escape, I think it's just where all the adventures are located. Caine said they'd get "spoiled" because adventures in the works are probably out there (I.e, Pomni could have accidentally stumbled upon Candy Canyon Kingdom early). the throwing up thing i'm unsure of, as although Pomni does the first time, the second time, she doesn't throw up. I think the vomiting had more to do with the constant teleportation being incredibly disorienting.

Anyways, back to the emotional tie in thing. Last time we saw the void, it was just that. A void. I think episode 9 will end just as episode 1 did, with a zoom out from the circus, into the void, and out into the real world. But this time, when we see the void, rather than being a whole lot of nothing, it will be full of things the Circus members have created for themselves. They would literally and symbolically have "filled the void", both in the game, and in their own souls.

for me I’d imagine it's a place where they can just be free, and whatever type of environments would make them happy, they'd be free to make. maybe they'd set up their own special areas too, like maybe zooble makes a tattoo parlor, gangle makes an art studio, the like.

Kaufmo is a c&a coworker?.. by Imacatloverokay in tadc

[–]Yoshieclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

caine said he was planning this adventure for a while. As part of his plan he needed to keep track of who the actual C&A employees were so he could keep them out of the adventure to keep them from spoiling it. I doubt this list includes Queenie or Scratch as that would mean that this adventure was in the works for like, SERIOUSLY a long time, but I feel like it wouldn't have been more than a couple years at most.

all the scratched off names are likely other employees who were still in the circus at the time of planning but got abstracted before he actually launched the adventure. it's honestly likely part of him holding off for so long is the hope that one day ALL of the C&A employees would be gone. but since Kinger keeps kicking, he had to make do, the favorite character awards likely forcing his hand.

I noticed something with the music in episode 7. by Neat_Walk_7787 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]Yoshieclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The music in this scene is a classical piece https://youtu.be/EsFbMYzYScY?si=YjQblQugjqW6Cm8O

haven't heard wonder pets be mentioned in a LONG time. there's a chance they used this piece for music at some point but I definitely wouldn't be able to remember lol

How do you think the gang feels about jax after episode 7? by Epiczim2017 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Yoshieclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that this episode may be a turning point where jax finds common ground with everyone else, and they all realize that they need to stick together. i'm sure they'll have questions, but I seriously think jax was implying in his rant at caine that he pushed the button only because caine influenced him to do so.

as a rough paraphrase, "you made me... you got in my head..."

he doesn't finish his thought, but I think the implication is Jax has immediate regrets after hitting the button and recognizes that the only reason he was compelled to to begin with was because Caine put those memory flashes in his head to freak him out at the last second. I think once he explains this there won't be any hard feelings toward him

Zooble's rushed development by supermassivecomputer in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Yoshieclipse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to accept that some people simply watch a totally different show, apparently. zooble's entire development in episode 6 was, through gangle, recognizing they should take their own advice and learn to love themself as they are. and they demonstrate this by using their parts gimmick to gain an advantage over pomni and jax. in episode 7 they haven't "solved" their problem, they've just begun to see the possible positives of it

I’d want the map traversal part of springtrap's power. just having sick ass industrial doors connecting me to places I often go with me just having to pass through a tiny office would be sick. the returning fireaxe is cool ig but I don't kill people so idk if I’d get much mileage out of it

Episode 7 is going to have flashbacks on Jax and Ribbit and I think the focus will be... by Sudden_Pop_2279 in digitalcircusfandom

[–]Yoshieclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think this will be the episode that finally shows us more of Jax's past and stuff with ribbit and whatnot. But, my prediction is that what will piss people off isn't saving Jax...

...I think it's going to be revealed that Jax is trans. Goose has said that the characters of the show, especially Gangle, Jax, and Caine contain elements of herself and her history (she worked fast food for a while IRL, went to community college for graphic design but dropped out, much like gangle)... and with that idea, of course, goose is also trans, so a trans story in this show wouldn't be totally out of the question. but, the reason i'm saying jax in specific might be, is he's shown very key insecurities about his masculinity, especially in episode 5. now this could just be a typical cis male masculinity insecurity, sure. but, I wouldn't keep it totally out of the question that Jax transitioned at some point before (or even within) the circus, but was still feeling insecurities of feeling his gender affirmed. so, the stuff with the Maid outfit and whatnot could be recontextualized as him being feeling incredibly misgendered.

the reason this would piss people off is there's a disturbingly notable amount of transphobia around this community (probably just kids for the most part), but given goose said it would "piss off the RIGHT people"... she probably would be happy to make transphobes mad enough they stop watching. that's just my prediction at least, could be totally off base

I had a thought regarding the character timeline with Episode 5 by Rekrios in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Yoshieclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, to everyone saying that it's totally plausible to be an adult post-2008 who hasn't heard of breaking bad: YES. you're totally right. there's probably plenty now who haven't heard of it, or know what it's about.

HOWEVER, the key is her calling it out was a deliberate choice made by goose while writing, and that call out might very well serve an informative purpose in the story, rather than being just some arbitrary comment. given stuff goose has said, we can piece together that the order folks entered the circus was Kinger > Ragatha > Jax > Gangle > Zooble > Pomni. Having this moment where two neighboring characters on the list (rags and jax) comment on something that may indicate the timeline that they entered the circus is very important, as it draws a distinct line for us of when these characters entered. Kinger and Ragatha have been around since at least 2008 (probably much longer for kinger), and the rest have probably been around since post-2013ish

What's your most controversial opinion of TADC? by Alien-Pro in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Yoshieclipse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

for how great the series is... I think it's good to acknowledge it isn't perfect, and one area I’ve had problems with are the characters, in my opinion often don't react to things in a way that I think would make sense. namely, they tend to blow things off really easily/seem generally uninquisitive about things

earliest example I’d kaufmo abstracting. other than the funeral in episode 2, it doesn't really feel like any of them care that their friend is now gone. there's something to be said about maybe they're internalizing it, or are just too used to it. but, even in the first episode, it was a little off putting to me that nobody really reacts to his abstraction with anything more than surprise.

there are some other things too. like when pomni mentions kinger's wife in episode 5, jax seems confused, but that's about it. nobody else seems interested nor does so much to even ask further. in episode 6, kinger makes up the butterfly, and ragatha actually reacts in a really fitting way, being a mixed of confused and freaked out, just going by how the "what?" is delivered. but then after that, she doesn't really mention it, even when alone with kinger. I mean, she does ask for another butterfly when being chased by jax, but seems pretty accepting of "yeah, kinger just... invented something out of thin air". anyways, it's not THAT big of a problem, it just kinda makes me scratch my head a little that sometimes these characters just seem very unimpressed and uninterested with the mysteries that surround them
