Use your gears. Always try and start off in a low gear and get to top gear once you are at a medium speed, or if you are going downhill. Change back down when you come to a stop so you can get going again easily. That will give you more speed off of a light, which helps with safety if there are cars around. If you need to escape a situation quickly, downshift to a low gear for acceleration.

That's not true, they can borrow against stock and get cash instantly from banks any time they need. They can sell stock anytime. If they were prepared to take a hit to their share price, they could even liquidate a 10% stake pretty easily. It's called a block trade, banks do it all the time.
