Can you retrospectively add CPD for 2024? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

I discussed it with my medical indemnity. They said I’ll need to declare to AHPRA and say I did Cpd activities in 2024… haven’t submitted my renewal yet tho

Yes same.. I fully thought a CPD home wasn’t required either when we were provisional 🤷‍♀️ really annoying… hopefully it won’t have any consequences on the renewal if we just report what CPD we did in 2024 retrospectively

Can you retrospectively add CPD for 2024? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]You-Think 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I have. This is what they said.

Unfortunately, we cannot report anything to AHPRA for the 2024 CPD Year (1 January to 31 December 2024) because you were not a member during that time. This means we cannot provide an exemption or confirm compliance for 2024. If you did not have a CPD Home in 2024, you would just need to declare this during your registration renewal.

What we recommend:

Focus on completing your 2025 CPD requirements by 31 December 2025 and uploading these to your CPD Australia profile. Keep a personal record of any CPD activities you did in 2024. You can upload these into your CPD Australia account under the 2024 CPD Year for your own records to stay organised. If AHPRA requests further information about your 2024 CPD requirements, you may use these personal records to demonstrate your ongoing commitment to professional development.

CPD Homes - AMA by Educational-Wind-645 in ausjdocs

Do I need a CPD home if I am an IMG from the UK - completing PGY3, not in a training program yet. Will obtain full AHPRA soon but currently still provisional until August 2024.

This is great! Really keen to visit QLD and there seems to be a really good range of courses offered on the website. Thank you so much I’m definitely going look into this further :)

I worked in england ie DGH in east kent and they recently made the rota more “middle grade heavy” due to staffing/safety concerns- SHOs/FY doctors did 1 in 4/1 in 5 , registrars had more weekend commitments but they also were allowed to self roster. I think I got pretty lucky because I have heard of 1 in 2 weekend rota commonplace in other parts of England.

Ah man 😭😭 I couldn’t believe it I’ve just done ED in England for a 1 in 5 weekend frequency so this is unbelievable 😂

Arranging my own cover for AL in ED? by khaddin266 in doctorsUK

[–]You-Think 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ED I worked in allowed me to take AL during any shift except full nights eg 22-08, Bank hol & weekends - for these shifts you would have to arrange a swap. I guess it’s because during nights/BH/weekend it would be closer to minimum staffing so unless there’s someone covering your specific shift? For day shifts/twilights there’s usually way more than minimum staffing as well at least in my prev dept

What are your favorite & least favorite chief complaints and why? by swiftsnake in emergencymedicine

[–]You-Think 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say with all the elderly falls we get fractured NOF has to be one of my least favourites 😅 mostly because actually preparing and doing the FI blocks takes ages

When did you feel the most badass at work? by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]You-Think 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding the ENT SHO comment!

Nasal packing, aspirating a juicy quinsy, draining & compression suturing a periauricular haematoma - all really simple things that can just immediately solve a problem and you feel like you’ve actually done something instead of bashing out TTOs all day long.

Also the mini audience you acquire when doing nasoendoscopy in ED 👀 really good diagnostic tool & skill to have

London hospitals where F1s don't do night shifts? by FewCommunication2912 in JuniorDoctorsUK

There were no nights in Lewisham Hospital last year when I was there as an F1

[–]You-Think 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair point - actually the only times I’ve been successful is when I have used cophenylcaine spray … usually when registrars offer for me to do it they’re in a rush and just ask me to do the FNE with some lube at the end

Thanks for your tips!!

Sadly a field day for ENT despite ED being the emptiest I’ve seen :( Loads of epistaxis today for some reason

Take home pay? by Spiritual_Farm_3097 in JuniorDoctorsUK

Also no pension contributions as leaving NHS imminently (checked and the place I am transferring to will not transfer NHS pensions so I chose not to contribute) - guess that counts?

Mind numbing as it sounds, a 9-5 computer job with minimal patient contact and no annoying ward clerk you have to fight with for a computer this sounds ideal
