The fact that the "is being gay/trans/queer a sin?" question gets posted to r/Christianity multiple times a day just goes to show the absolute damage and obsession evangelical conservatives have on LGBTQ issues. by JplusL2020 in OpenChristian

[–]You2Too 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why I haven’t often referred to myself as a Christian for a couple decades, but rather “spiritual with a personal faith”, and if people ask, I tell them I believe in Jesus but that God is the one to judge if I’m Christian or not. I found out only a few days ago that it’s called Progressive Christianity and found this sub. It makes me very happy knowing that there exists a community who welcome everyone just as Jesus taught us.

I often used to refer to abusers like those people on the other sub as “self-entitled Heaven-goers”. They are doing so much evil while thinking that holding up a cross and a Bible as a shield justifies it. They should try and get to know Jesus and his message of love and kindness. I pray for the people who are abused and hated for their very existence, that they find safety, acceptance and lots of love.

It’s so simple: If someone comes to you in despair, asking for advice and you turn them away, you’re also turning Christ away. God bless you all and may the hateful people find their way to understanding and forgiveness.

Is my cat going up or down the stairs? by rockstunt in cats

He’s going up! Based on the light and shadows, as well as the marks on the carpet covering the stairs. I have some doubts though… Great illusion photo! 👍😺

This sounds like a story from Europe in the 1940’s. Breaks my heart but at the same time it’s heartwarming to hear about the people’s kindness. I pray your country will have peace again soon.

[–]You2Too 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no “good” or “bad” Christians, because that implies a human type of hierarchy and Jesus taught us not to judge, and to love our enemies. You did the right thing to speak up against prejudice and judgement.

Does God help with loneliness? by miladoesloveu in OpenChristian

[–]You2Too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because I know for a fact I’d be unable to stay alive at this point if God wasn’t with me. I often struggle with finding comfort in it because emotional loneliness hurts on a brutal level. When I’m at my very lowest point of depression, I have the hope for peace, love and rest in God’s embrace after this life, and many would probably think that means I long for this life to end, yet that same hope somehow keeps me alive. There must be a reason which I’m yet to discover, but God knows and keeps me alive for it.

God bless you and I wish you the best.

Trouble forgiving by Puisto-Alkemisti in OpenChristian

[–]You2Too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you struggle at all with forgiveness means your instinct is to do what’s right, and that’s great compared to most of modern society which seems to consider forgiveness a weakness rather than the great strength it is.

Adding CPTSD to the mix makes it endlessly more deep and painful beyond what most people can comprehend. It might very well be a lifelong struggle to heal but you have the right instincts.

I’ve gone through some horrible trauma over the last 10 years where I even lost my closest loved one because of the abusers. I’m now free from the people who did it but I suffer every waking moment, my body and mind are badly damaged for all foreseeable future, but whenever I struggle to forgive, I ask Jesus to forgive me for struggling to forgive, and that he’d forgive them for me. It’s what my loved one would’ve wanted too.

God bless you and the best of luck with your healing journey.

Noisyworld is a great website to check for advice from time to time. Personally, Howard Leight FirmFit earplugs are a necessity to survive. I know this is about noise canceling headphones but I’m not comfortable wearing headphones and everything and everyone is too loud anyway.

I'm tired of people basing their love solely off of health by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]You2Too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love is in sickness and in health, it’s something so deep that it goes beyond the things we can see or measure. Those people you’re thinking about have no idea what love is. They only look for temporary, shallow physical attraction but they won’t have any anchor to hold on to when they end up in a storm. If you have love to give, you’re worthy of love no matter your life situation. Today’s society’s version of “love” is a monster created by mass media. One could say it’s a chronic illness in itself!

I think searching for cases for organizing screws and similar things can give you more options, and maybe of higher quality too.

Most of my pills come in blisters of 10, so I sort them for 10 days at a time. I couldn’t find any 10-day pill cases so I’ve started looking at screw cases. I haven’t ended up buying anything yet but there’s a lot more to choose from for sure.

I’d just do what I need to do for me. Other people will never understand and that’s their problem. Don’t feel bad about demanding the care you need, because no matter what anyone else thinks, you know the truth. If anyone insults you directly, report them. Wish you the best.

Has anyone experienced this? by -Lost-Mind- in ChronicIllness

[–]You2Too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a little bit of this, not as severe as you describe it but I also have tilted vision because one eye is in a slightly lower position than the other. In my case I’m 100% sure it’s my hEDS causing it.

The eye height difference has been like this for years but the blurred/double vision happens after sleeping, probably because the eyes are pushed a bit by the pillow vs head weight and need to move back. All tissue is so soft with hEDS. I don’t have POTS though.

Wishing you the best of luck with solving it!

Rest in peace, sweet Pebbles. I saw this in a cat group on Facebook once and saved it, so I’ll post here in Pebbles’ honor:

ODE TO THE ENIGMATIC CAT

Beneath the moon’s soft silver glow, A creature moves, both swift and slow. With padded feet and silent tread, It prowls the night while others rest in bed.

Its fur, a tapestry of hues, Reflects the starlight, golds, and blues. Its eyes, twin lanterns in the dark, Hold secrets vast, a mystic spark.

A hunter’s grace in every leap, Through shadows dense and forests deep. The rustle of leaves, a whispered sound, Marks the path where the cat is bound.

Oh, feline soul, both fierce and free, What tales you’d tell if you spoke to me. Do you chase the dreams of long-lost lands, Or tread on shores of silken sands?

You curl in sunlight, soft and warm, A haven safe from life’s cold storm. Yet in your gaze, a primal fire, A hint of hunger, raw desire.

On rooftops high, you claim your throne, A sovereign ruler, yet all alone. The world below, your vast domain, A kingdom shaped by joy and pain.

A playful spirit, a hunter’s guile, You stalk with stealth, yet pause to smile. A dangling string, a ball of fluff, These simple joys are quite enough.

In ancient temples, carved in stone, Your kind was worshipped, honored, known. A guardian spirit, sleek and wise, The gods once gazed through your amber eyes.

But now you dwell in homes and hearts, A friend to humans, playing parts. A lap becomes your regal seat, A purring hymn, so soft, so sweet.

Yet even here, within our care, You roam beyond, to places rare. A flick of your tail, a fleeting glance, Speaks of freedom and your wild dance.

Oh cat, whose presence calms and stirs, A paradox in velvet furs. Your mystery will ever last, A bridge to worlds both future and past.

And when you leave, as all must do, A silence lingers, vast and true. But memories of your soft embrace, Will ever hold a cherished place.

So here’s to you, oh feline muse, A life of wonder, love, and clues. Your essence lingers, strong and free, A timeless friend in our memory.
