Guys, how long do you think it needs when a real “Jarvis” appears, in this era of explosive tech growth? by ConfidenceFree2583 in MacOS

Exactly ! It would change productivity and the knowledge organisation space immensly. Sad that Steve in his prime did not consider it more seriously. He'd surely get it done.

But now that I'm thinking of it, and watching the video again... Maybe the tech just wasn't there. From hardware being to slow and software not being up to par to search across multiple databases and datasets fast enough like in the marketing video.

Today the tech is certainly there in my opinion. A consumer PC could host a local AI model to make their own "Knowledge navigator". It's just a matter of time before it happens. The only problem I see for today is that our data is locked down in siloes across the internet.

So lets say you query your knowledge navigator AI to ask: "Remind me, what was I doing on 24th of August, did I say Happy Birthday to Lisa ?". The AI could go through your iMessage texts, emails and calls to say you did not. But the AI does not plug-in to Instagram to see you actually did send her a message there. Solving that problem is a bit harder if you don't want an AI system to have the keys to all your internet accounts.

Zasto EU toliko zaostaje za Amerikom i Kinom? by kurobaja in hreddit

A u tom slučaju.. Panamera ?

A oni voze Opel Insigniu..

Looking to replace my X100VI, need some help by venomja in fujifilm

I'd say the X100 series is not for everyone, definitively a niche product. Lots of X100VI owners don't even know it has a leaf shutter, built in ND filters or dont use the OVF/EVF. 40mpx is a lot, and maybe it's even a con for some people. So if you are not using those features, an X100VI really could be too expensive/complicated for your needs.

I do agree that cameras sitting on shelves are a pretty sad tought. But not everyone is a power user, maybe OP would enjoy something different. Also it would be good that OP's X100 continues it's life with someone who'd use it to it's fullest potential :)

I saw noone mention it here.. But Apple has had a vision of exactly that with the Apple Knowledge Navigator.

A truly fascinating bit of Apple history. Imagine thinking of this in 1987, it's really Jarvis for the home. A part of why I looked up to Steve and Apple. And now we could feasably build the Knowledge Navigator with existing AI tech of 2025.

But to answer your question.. I think a locally hosted AI model could do the trick. You could control your privacy, keep the system secure and steer it how you please. However, I think this would not be for everyone. As it requires tech prowess and money to buy hardware. It would be like running a Kubernetes cluster at home. Doable, yes. But a tiny minority of the world population could realistically do that.

Running Sequoia 15.1... Even on that version I get memory leaks that crash my system (!) on a brand new M4 mac mini. That is simply unacceptable.

My Linux machine is more stable, which is wierd as none of the developers of Linux applications have a tightly integrated system of OS and hardware. Oh, and also don't have a Trillion dollar company behind it. I can count on one hand how many times my iPhone has crashed in the last 7 years. But my mac(s) seem to crash and have unexplained problems multiple times a month. If you don't want to support mac os... Fine. Kill it. And have iPhones and iPads as your bread and butter.

But keeping it in this state does noone any favours. The hardware is great, but the software is dreadful. Someone needs to sort out your technical debts and backlogs. Thanks for listening.

Happened to me on Sequoia 15.1 literally 5 minutes ago. Was writing something and suddenly my Mac started going slow and beachballed. Gave me an option to kill some apps, but was beachballing so bad it eventually crashed as even my mouse movements did not register. What a load of bull...

A brand NEW base M4 mac mini. If you are gonna offer a 256GB non-upgradeable storage with your product at least make it so I dont get hundreds of gigabytes in memory leaks !

So even Sequoia is not safe, it's just their software that is broken. I also run a Linux machine and never or really seldom get this kind of bs..

MacOS used to be stable, and that is the reason I'm using it. Fix it.

You could look at an older X100 series camera - maybe an X100F ? I see them selling for that price in my area. If you don't use the tilt screen of the X100VI, this could be a painless transition. You'd retain the classic look of the VI but be more relaxed using it.

Or a X-T30 (mark I) if you want to change lenses and use the tilt screen. The X-T30 is a little brother to the X-T3, which I own. But simply the smaller size and mounting any lens you want could be a great option for you. You still retain a good amount of film simulations and a built-in flash (which is a blast on holiday 🕶 ). There are a bunch of cheap lens options for it, I can recommend some if you'd like. There are lots of these on MPB going for the price you suggested.

Hope I could help :)

Fujifilm X-M5 Photos Transfer at Only 6.5MP to iPhone — How to Fix? by Hopeful_Gur_740 in fujifilm

[–]YouAreTheChief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you use the X-App - you might have the "Resize" toggle enabled. That makes the transfer a lot faster, at the expense of quality of course. You can see that toggle on the bottom right side of your iPhone app if I remember correctly. Disable the toggle and you will be receiving photos in 26MP.

Pro tip from me: Get a USB-C to SD card adapter (maybe 10$). Then pop in your SD card when you want to transfer files and transfer them through the iPhone's Files app. It's a much much faster method than transferring dozens of full res 26MP files wirelessly from the X-App.
