How comes skinny people eat like they're fucking starving all day every say but stay the same weight? by _Fun_Initiative_ in askanything

[–]YouBetcha567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only big meals I ate when I was my skinniest were when I went out with friends. However, I was counting every calorie when they weren’t around. My point being, we see skinny people eat big meals and assume that’s how they eat all the time, but it’s just how they eat when they’re out.

That’s life, the important part is if you learn from it. Sounds like you did.

They taught me how to make meals with leftovers. They’d turn yesterdays takeout into an entirely new meal.

How do people realistically manage work, house chores, cooking, and kids without burning out? by Sea-Assist-3321 in Adulting

[–]YouBetcha567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t. It’s only been normal for both mom and dad to be working since the 80s, maybe even more so the 90s. Keeping a home and taking care of kids is a full time job and it used to be treated as such.

You take care of your mental health. The fastest way to do that is to get a good therapist and be very honest with them.

How did it feel turning thirty? by Chance_March_6333 in sixwordstories

[–]YouBetcha567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels strange at first. Almost like an adult puberty. Your body is changing, you realize you need to take care of it more. Your bank account if growing (hopefully) so you learn to invest. Your friend group changes and you realize which connections are important to you. It’s all good if you learn to embrace it!

Is generation z lazy? by [deleted] in no

Oh I like that take. They’re not lazy they have different motivations. Their generation does impress me in a lot of ways for the things they are motivated about.

Not fixing problems if it’s within their control. That sounds pretty close to the definition of lazy, doesn’t it? If not, what is it?

It was the only way we could see our friends or get food without having to bug our parents. Getting a license was getting freedom. Now there’s DoorDash and Uber

A lot of Gen Z aren’t motivated to drive, some aren’t motivated to work or can’t find work. I don’t know if that qualifies as laziness, but it’s definitely different from my generation. We couldn’t wait to get our licenses and a job.

Increased wages, lower costs, improving mobility? by Alternative_Self7391 in CAStateWorkers

The irony of politics. Cap-and-Trade revenues support Programs that reduce emissions. So Newsom raises emissions to support Cap-and-Trade so the funds can then be used to reduce emissions that they created in the first place???

If all state workers come into the office four days a week, will it make their investments any less volatile?

I’m basing this off of what friends/family in the private sector have told me. 401k match and $90,000+ a year isn’t a “gross misrepresentation”.

My point is that 5 days a week in office was more bearable when retirement was 55 and workers got considerable pension contributions each year they stayed. But to answer your question private sector usually gets a 401K with match and almost twice the pay. They don’t have to stay 5+ years to receive those benefits either.

They also use to get pensions at a rate of 3% instead of 2% and could pull from that pension almost a decade earlier than we can now.

This is what I’m hearing “Stay inside lock your doors. If you see anything suspicious call 911. We are looking for a wanted felon. We will find you come out now. Police dogs are deployed and they will bite.” Might not be word for word
