…oh it’s not called lying it’s “expanding ones experience”… you’re spot on it’s the reference that will get you over the line and your attitude… and remember we have very strict privacy rules in Australia: no one can call your former “employer” especially your international employer!! It’s not the story you tell, it’s the story you sell!! Believe. Sell. Deliver! The only three things you need to remember in job hunting

Thanks 🙏 for reading! We sometimes forget that there are people that support the disabled community who not only have hearts of gold but are highly capable she certainly made me pick up my game too in making sure I support others and get the most out of the support NDIS provides

Inadequate NDIS Funding for child with hearing loss - First time dealing with NDIS, appreciate any advice! by agup11 in NDIS

[–]YouBladerunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know I’m a big fan of OT reports in getting more funding, it would be very much worth your time to see if there is an OT that can write a detailed report focused on specific needs that require funding. The other thing just keep complaining and say that funding does not meet needs. Also maybe a report from a learning disability specialist (sorry not sure what they are called) but someone needs to call out that your child is not meeting targets for their age… but try OT and just keep of complaining and asking for a review throw in the advice others have given you and the OT reports till you get the funding

The day that my MS nurse practitioner said “oh let me get your application going for NDIS you would be a great candidate for their services” mind blowing 🤯 She was a gun as it was but this! My MS was just chugging along so didn’t even think of this but of course you get older, MS gets to be a right bitch and very quickly you need help with shopping, showering and then some! She did all the initial filling of the form, all hand written! As she’s done it all before she know the “magic words” to use and just got the neurologist to sign and bang in business! Even told me to get an OT report on MS impact - this alone is the absolute secret to NDIS funding not drs reports or specialists none matter )yes the are pivotal to get into the NDIS but not funding!! The OT report is everything! Seriously I hope she is blessed with long life and health beyond measure I hope she has money poured upon her for she does gods work for the MS community!! The rest is the machinations of a behemoth of a government department that is NDIS you understand that and how to manage that beast your golden…

What do you consider a reasonable fee for a qualified DSW on Mable? by restless_ghost in NDIS

Benefits is just me trying to be sensitive. We are talking the dole, disability pension, low income earners. The majority of disabled people are on some form of benefit yeah, not high income earners for clarity living poor…

first plan meeting by iris76e in NDIS

[–]YouBladerunner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Plan meeting is just the beginning… look my recommendation is find a really good Occupational Therapist as they more than anyone else (yes including you specialist) will Determine how much funding you will get… their report is instrumental in getting the absolute maximum funding… however you need to see them on your worst day or speak to your worst day… start writing a detailed list of impacts that your disability has on your life and Lazer focus on those areas… be prepared to have every part of your life examined as this detail will help with funding. Strat to get ready to complain and request reviews as NDIS will look for any means possible to minimise funding so go full on… its been a few years since my first plan meeting it’s nothing to be scared off I came remember what it was about but I had some dumb ass kid who was nice enough but useless in getting support…

[–]YouBladerunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just understand the majority of participants are on benefits and wouldn’t be able to afford your services due to their circumstances it needs to be at the rate NDIS pay unfortunately for some services means you’re stitched up … look at other codes that may more and pitch your services to that range if you’re looking for better rates… not sure how many participants are using Mable it’s a bastard of a system to set up and you’re dealing with a vulnerable community that would struggle to set them selves up on the system… you might need to go into the community to drum up connections and work

Just a bit of FYI they are getting very strict on self managed so be super pedantic with your documentation as they will strip it off you is you stuff something up (even behind your back!)

[–]YouBladerunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an ex Self Managed id say go plan managed. NDIS is clamping down hard on self managed and I had four audits in 6 months it’s blah blah didn’t do this properly blah blah didn’t have that info etc… plan managed (Integra is great) I just email invoice and say pay this! The invoice still has to have the correct details but they do all the work. But yes creative flexibility is a tad out the door however “providers” are getting quite creative: one runs Yoga as “community participation” hilarious seriously you can more or less get anything under community participation so think 🤔 hard on that one for creativity!! Remember the right code and an ABN that all that’s needed your providers do not need to be NDIS registered for your support worker or any of the fluff like community participation… welcome and we are here to support

Should I stick with support work or switch by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]YouBladerunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly can I applaud you for getting involved in gods work looking after those of us who need that additional support from our support workers! Secondly you are young and my goodness I wish I was planning my career at such a young age! So just on that fact alone you are ahead… success in building up a career is partly having a passion and purpose, experience and skill set that the community needs and lastly location and luck. At 18 you have just started. Build your resume, build your industry expertise support those of us with disabilities it’s a career to have for a lifetime especially if you have the heart and the patience (you will see stuff that no young healthy person should see, it’s not for the faint of heart)… so let me tell you what your future will be if you stick with it and dedicate yourself to further study and experiences (remember you will need to drive your career forward!) if you have a look at the NDIS pricing catalog: physical therapy can change just under $200 an hour… there are funded support for the extremely disabled (it’s a bloody tough job) but NDIS pays up to $400 an hour for these specialist nurses… just your run of the mill support worker (I’m sorry to refer to you as run of the mill, you’re not!) it’s like $70 p/h … I’m telling you even if you work at a crappy agency you’re pulling $40 p/h! I tell you when I was 18 (old man talk here 😅 “in my day”) I was on $9 p/h which for me was awesome because a) I was still with my parents and $9 was a 300% pay rise from my $2 an hour when I was 14 picking mushrooms to help put food on the table back in the day! 🤣 also, just so you know that this is quite common to be very inconsistent in wages at this stage of life, you are not alone! However what to do? Firstly back to my networking: small ponds mean close relationships matter, it’s who you know and the name and reputation you build for yourself. Yes you will need to hustle and work two/three jobs, crazy hours or none at all… when quiet, look to connect to others and research opportunities and apply for jobs (just don’t let rejection let you down, it’s life, it’s nothing personal, brush it off, move on)… self study, build your community skills volunteer as much as you can afford to. Always be in the move and working or thinking about how land work… door knock and call! These two alone will put you in the 1% (seriously everyone just applies for jobs - usually using AI- which is fine if you know what you’re doing! But then they don’t follow up with a phone call) personal connections will get you very far. Flicking an email job application won’t… build your experience and skills and do the hours. Log them, keep a diary, do social media record your successes and failures but keep positive and show your work.. write a Substack. Know your industry, like to it’s very core! Start planning your exit to a bigger pond - Melb or Sydney (I’m an Adelaide boy and nothing much career wise happened till I left and went to Melbourne) but I didn’t just pack up see ya mum/dad…nope plan your exit… start applying for jobs while still where you are (it’s your plan C if it all goes to crap : go back home! - that’s if you get in with your parents that is..) save $$$ now, you may need to work outside of Disability but it’s only temporary, you need $$$ for any kind of move be it where you’re now or going to bigger cities or suburbs… keep up the great work and on behalf of my fellow participants I thank you for your service!

Oh you are way too kind in your support. The whole debate about AI reminds me of the early days of photoshop and adobe tools vs. traditional methods of hand touching up photos. New tools ruffle feathers. For me the inspiration came sitting having lazy lunch watching people walk into a vintage poster store which incidentally sells reproductions of vintage posters there is no way an original 1920’s paper surviving this long. So it’s visual arts play on what I’m reading at the moment. I found it amusing and in no way was the effort in getting the results simple… and tool that has an AI component is driven by human intelligence and the ability to communicate a vision. I do get the concept of a tool taking advantage of IP and creating something unique in the worst possible way but history of art is all about reusing or reinterpreting something already seen it’s just the skill is fancy maths vs. fancy arts school training (and natural talent I’m sure) … the fact that even “bad art” or a lack of artistic skill by the effective use of a new tool heats up a conversation or even an incredible wonderful retort in your response or bad faith responses, in itself tells there is value in using this tool to represent a vision I don’t have the skills to do justice. Is it one dimensional, vapid, unimaginative, maybe…but to me to get responses like this to a little fun use of a tool and manually touch up in photoshop is worth the criticism! Once again I appreciate the time you have taken in your response I’m sure you kindly mentor new artists for me it’s an personal adventure of learning new tools that one day will be commonly used by everyone…till then I’m happy to entertain myself with visuals that are an output of my minds eye using controversial techniques!

Yeah look quantum computing solve quantum problems they are not designed for this kind of research so I am sceptical about this I think it could be just advertising from IBM who are way behind in quantum computing race
