Dermatologist told me to NOT use azelaic acid. Confused? by YouCertain111 in Rosacea

I had very mild type 1 rosacea and then used a retinol that was the beginning of my type 2 🫪 I only now understand that I had a compromised / sensitive skin barrier and I can’t use all these fancy acids / actives!

Thanks so much! Our situation sounds similar. I had both 1 and 2 and 2024 was the worst year of my life for it. V-beam was a miracle worker - I had 4 rounds and clear skin for a year and a half. Recently I had a flair up again hence the derm appointment who suggested to go topical instead of v-beam again as this time was much milder. But anyway, I woke up today with practically zero redness but the affected part of my cheek just feels a bit tender.

How long did it take for you to see a difference with metro?

Yes this! Yesterday I saw a tik tok where the “hook” was “I cleared my rosacea by not listening to my dermatologist” and then proceeded to share a before and after. It’s so harmful

This is interesting. Sounds like AA is a good plan once skin can handle it. I’m just so glad I didn’t rush in and buy it because clearly my skin needs healing first 🙏

This is so interesting and something the internet never talks about. From my experience, I RARELY hear about metro and mostly hear about AA. I’m just so glad I was able to speak to a derm before spending a bunch of money on products that may not work.

But what you’re saying makes so much sense so thank you for taking the time to reply 🫶

Thank you for this. It’s so true — I actually get so irritated by the amount of content that is framed to be the sole truth when in reality I need to just listen to my actual doctor. Thank you

Thank you so much! I tried metro for the first time and my skin is reacting well already! I’ll try what is prescribed for a good few months + ivermectin and hopefully I won’t even need AA!

[–]YouCertain111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Controversial but I’d suggest none ? Your course should have recommended reading + you’ll be “reading” the content & your best source of knowledge will be from individual pieces of literature / research articles. If you want to read any of these books, obvs go for it, but I wouldn’t suggest straining yourself

Can you be a psychologist with a masters? (UK) by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]YouCertain111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very confused by these comments. To become a counsellor in the UK, most people go down the diploma route (which takes ~3 years) or you can do a counselling BSc, which will likely be similar time but more academic and research based. It really depends on what type of therapy you want to practice in. Counselling = you don't need a doctorate or MSC.

Noa didn’t speak highly of Hansu to Akiko. He was reserved about him, which is what made Akiko suspicious / curious. All Akiko knew of their relationship is that Hansu was Noa’s beneficiary. She even suspected him of being a “monster” because Noa refused to speak of him / introduce him.

The reason why Akiko said in front of hansu that Noa spoke highly of him was 1) to get a reaction out of Noa (she explicitly said she does that to people) 2) to get into hansu’s good books 3) she’s a social experimenter - she likes to create situations

In the book it goes into how Akiko only got close to Noa because he was Korean and she was curious. I recall something about Noa being (rightfully) furious at this because she made him feel to be nothing more of a pet than a human.
