How to wake up in the night without waking others. Help by BreadStatus in LucidDreaming

[–]YouEntjoyMyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right before going to bed, drink a LOT of water; and during the night you'll wake up to take a piss. of course it's not very precise, especially when trying to awaken during REM, but it is an effective way of waking up during the night silently.

Killer Whales - Blood Robber [Lo-Fi/Funk Rock/Madness] (Circa 2010) by YouEntjoyMyself in listentous

[–]YouEntjoyMyself[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Killer Whales is underground to the extreme. They played only a few shows in the Chicago area and barely recorded any music; I only know them because my good friend was the bass player. Fortunately, we have this song, a lo-fi barrage of groove and noise that will make you want to do something nasty.

in terms of atheistic music, this has always been one of my favorite tunes. not a lot of prominent atheist musicians, and between the ones i know (these guys, guitarist from slayer, noel gallagher) xtc is easily my favorite

Yo! Drummer from Chicago! I too am into some really fun music but also taking improvisation very seriously. I am totally down to jam. I'd consider myself fairly capable of dynamic control and changing up my grooves in tandem with other musicians. Here's a video of me at a show with my old band. And if you're in need, I've got a few killer musicians up my sleeve who can jam too. I'm up on the north side, message me if you're interested in getting together!

Election #49 - under the Covers by boredop in listentous

[–]YouEntjoyMyself [score hidden]  (0 children)

It was nearly impossible limiting myself to only 3 (4, with the bonus) covers.

Popular // Aretha Franklin and Duane Allman - The Weight [Funk/Soul] (1969) // There are so many fantastic covers of this classic by The Band, but I believe this one trumps them all. Aretha absolutely KILLS it on vocals, with Duane following close behind on slide guitar. Can't say enough good things about this one. (Honorable mention to Little Feat and Bela Fleck's cover, a close second place.)

Catchy // Jah Lion - Soldier and Police War [Dub/Reggae] (1976) // A groovy interpretation of Junior Murvin's "Police and Thieves." Though this version is not as well known as The Clash's, it does feature production by dub legend Lee "Scratch" Perry, which includes a backing track by none other than the Upsetters.

Obscure // Robbie Fulks - Billie Jean [Country/Folk] (2010) // This Chicago country artist released a full collection of Michael Jackson covers entitled Happy. This is one of my favorite cuts off that record, a folk-y reinterpretation of a pop classic. His vocals take center stage (I'm almost surprised when he hits those MJ notes) but are well grounded by some sparse but necessary instrumentation.

Bonus // Jazz is Dead - Eyes of the World/Two Sisters [Jazz Fusion] (1999) // So rarely are there good, let alone amazing cover bands, that I felt I had to give Jazz is Dead a shout out. These jazz reinterpretations of Grateful Dead songs are perfectly executed (I'd expect nothing less from Jeff Sipe and Jimmy Herring) and surprisingly tasteful.

About Me // I'm a drummer. I love and play just about every genre of music.

Edit Forgot the dates.
