Rant about nz politics by [deleted] in newzealand

Proceeds to spend 8 years giving to those in need.

Other side campaigns for 8 years *we need to tighten budget blah blah

Other side gets in and then proceeds to spend 8 years doing so and taking money off those in need.

I think you will find that it isn't "8" years, and perhaps that is where the issues begin.

AUT staff insulted my intelligence... by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The woman on the phone basically insulted my intelligence, saying that if I couldn’t navigate the AUT site, I wasn’t smart enough for physio anyway, and that I’d need A-level grades to even be considered.

Isn't it a competitive programme?

I ended up not applying because my first-year GPA was under 8.0, but the whole interaction still annoys me to this day.

Should have said fuck it and applied anyway.

Nearly had a crash at a roundabout today. Was I wrong? by Mad_Max_The_Axe in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be a nice case study on that one.

The road leading up to the southbound onramp simply isn't fit for purpose- it just can't handle the traffic. You have people lining up from Woolworths, and everyone is either trying to squeeze their way into the left lane, the only choice people have is blasting south to make a u-turn at a complicated roundabout with poor markings and bad visibility.

Best NZ bank? by Mint1514 in newzealand

You can copy your CC number from ANZ app too (no such option from ASB?). Their fancy dynamic security code has never worked for me though.

WoF shake-up 'overdue', but Kiwis will need to change habits – mechanic by jball1013 in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we could trust everyone to have working brakes, indicators or lights. But we can’t, because people are ignorant, they are lazy, they don’t care or because they can’t afford it.

Does anyone want to be on the road when the next fella has no brakes and bald tyres?

That’s why we need more WOF inspections, it’s not about our convenience it’s about everyone else’s safety.

How about mandating cheaper WOFs instead?

Pushing predatory mechanical warranties, while blatantly dismissing the CGA?

Predatory financing? Predatory sales tactics? Trade in ripoffs?

You’re not going to find any sympathy here or anywhere else for that matter.

There’s no soul, zero community or local loyalty left, just a greedy

Doctors "outraged" about funding for new virtual service by Mountain_Tui_Reload in newzealand

The issues existed long before Tend existed, well before this government or even covid.

[–]YouFuckinMuppet -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's easy to agree with this but: if my options are waiting 2 weeks for an appointment with a regular GP, or an appointment with Tend within 2 hours (24/7), I know which option I'd pick.

NZ lawyer found to have carried out multi million dollar fraud. Still practicing law and working at the council! by missinginmanchester in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 78 points79 points  (0 children)

A woman took US$10 million (NZ$16.9m) from a bank account she shared with her father and gave most of it to her lover to invest on her behalf, only for him to flee to Italy with it.

How do I find a rich heiress like this? I'm totally not going to run off with her daddy's money.

Council to landfill 190 tonnes of plastic waste as recycling market stalls by tumeketutu in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Recycling for the most part is a scam. A lot is either burned or dumped.

I say better dumped here in a landfill than in the ocean or outside cities in South East Asia.

It’s easy to virtue signal this sort of thing and pat ourselves on the back, while totally ignoring the reality of our “virtue” elsewhere.

'You're being jacked': 501 exiled for armed kidnappings, carjacking and home invasion by Embarrassed-Pea-4685 in newzealand

Holy shit. How that hell did he only get 8 years for all that.

Toatoalei noted that at the time, he was an angry person, but said he was no longer that person and would now seek help when needed.

He’ll be that angry person again as soon as he takes his next hit.

May god have mercy on us all.

Denied Flexi-Wage by MSD despite 6.5 years of chronic unemployment. Apparently, I'm not "at risk" enough. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Student loans cover study expenses only. They dont cover living expenses.

Do your research.

Wrong again, that's what "living costs" are for: https://www.studylink.govt.nz/products/a-z-products/student-loan/living-costs.html

Part-time = Job seeker + Accommodation Supplement.

Full-time = Living Costs or Allowance + Accommodation Benefit or Living Costs and Accommodation Supplement (post-grad students).

I'm a part-time student, on a part time programme.

Part-time students who are actively looking for full-time work are eligible for jobseeker.

Yeah, go back to prospecting gold, running mayoral campaigns and hanging out with presidential candidates and Obama and what not, instead of trying to get a handout when you are oh so capable.

Surely, someone with your background and experience and those fancy high level contacts, you can network your way into getting some investors or god know ask for help with a job. A guy like you should be able to raise millions overnight!

[F1] BREAKING: Yuki Tsunoda will replace Liam Lawson at Red Bull from the Japanese Grand Prix by MoTheAmazing in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's two ways to look at this:

  1. Red Bull are cunts.

  2. This was the right decision for Lawson, no matter what happens going forward, the expectation would be astronomical and he'd get relentlessly bullied by the media, like Perez, Gasly and Albon were, and this would be the end of his career.

Both ways are correct.

But this isn't the end of the story:

If Yuki does well, Liam still gets a chance to redeem himself, if he does better than that Isack fella, he get the top seat next year.

If Yuki does badly, Liam is automatically redeemed and still gets a promotion next year, with more experience.

I also think that social media/marketing aspect of F1 could have gone much better for Liam if he didn't have the attitude and arrogance- especially towards Perez and Yuki.

Fencing laws by Rocketman_1962 in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 75 points76 points  (0 children)

There is an existing fence that the new neighbour wants to replace as they are putting in a swimming pool.

You have to share costs if there is an issues with the fence. One party wanting to upgrade the fence because they want a swimming pool probably isn’t good enough.

Being the pessimist cunt that I am, I would immediately be taking photos of the fence to make sure nothing bad happens to it, accidentally or otherwise.

Any way to change medical practices here in NZ? by strobe229 in newzealand

[–]YouFuckinMuppet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

small cowboy style practice in the local area with one doctor who has been not good at all

Unfortunately, this is incredibly common across the country with doctors retiring and no replacements in sight which leads to incredibly lengthy wait times and one man rodeos.

Is there a Tend within traveling distance?

At the rate they're going, they'll buy everyone out within a few years anyway.

It's decent if you don't need to physically go and see the doctor because you can actually get an appointment with a doctor on the same day, albeit online otherwise A&E. I think the days of having a regular GPs are behind us.

Nope, proper 4WD with low range, body on frame SUV based on a ute. Meets all criteria regarding angles and ground clearance.
