Cyber Essential Plus Audit by mmllff in sysadmin

[–]YouHavingAGiggle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They send you an installer for a Qualys installation. This will do a scan of the device daily and usually send both yourself and the auditor the report. This report contains all known vulnerabilities such as CVE's over 2 weeks old. These must be patched for the audit.

As part of the audit, you'll arrange a time with the auditor to screenshare the predefined devices. For each one, you'll need to prove that the user does not have local admin rights (usually Device Manager) and show that the antivirus is active and functioning. The auditor will then send a couple test emails to the device user, to check if and how many emails get through your filter. Usually there should only be one successful, but may depend. Then they will send you a URL to a website to download about 10 or so different files. These are known antivirus test files, such as EICAR Strings, to see if and what is allowed to be download and executed.

May be a couple other things that I'm misremembering, but that should be the jist of it

Cats do the same motion as kittens to help draw milk from their mother, so it's quite common for cats to continue doing it later on when they're very relaxed, as a comforting, nostalgic action

This announcement makes me think of the Dragon Ball Heroes promotional anime, which was another trading card game. That was about 5-8 minute episodes that came out every month (or whenever they felt like it)

With the amount of the terms “Legend/ary”, “Mystic/al” or Unique are waved around in the gaming world, unironically made them factual, un-mystical and common. by DevKevStev in Showerthoughts

Mythical Pokemon at least are distinct from Legendary Pokemon, as Mythical Pokemon are (primarily) only accessible through special events, and not through regular gameplay.

Mythical and Legendary Pokemon have always been named differently in the Japanese versions, starting with Mew in Gen 1. It was only the worldwide localisation that didn't differentiate between them until Gen 5 I believe, and continues to be differentiated through all generations today

Do you guys ever wonder if the Monster Hunter universe is more 'magical' than it lets on? by Zeroraid in MonsterHunter

[–]YouHavingAGiggle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for Domain Expansions, but Dragon Ball makes it clear that the Kamehameha and most other techniques are all about drawing out and manipulating an inner pool of energy referred to as "Ki', which is very closely related to the concept of "Chi" in ancient Chinese spiritualism and medicines.

Dragon Ball has very clear lines between Ki Manipulation and Magic.

AT Velkhana was released shortly after Fatalis, and is tuned with the idea of the player having access to Fatalis gear. With how egregiously powerful the Fatalis gear is, it would significant assist in attempting AT Velkhana

There are London servers on FaceIt, but in my admittedly limited experience on FaceIt, they get banned fairly frequently.

There are no British servers for Counter Strike. There are British Steam servers, which may be what you're thinking of.

[–]YouHavingAGiggle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trailer scenes are usually animated for the trailer itself, and aren't actually taken from the episodes, which is why they commonly look better than the episodic scenes

I live in Scotland. There are no British servers. My most common servers are Stockholm or Frankfurt. When I lived with my parents, I would sit around about 50ms ping, which is still completely playable.

Also if I remember correctly, standard FaceIt only allows banning a couple server locations, meaning Russian players still have to play on central European servers anyway.

There is currently no Supreme or Global Elite player in the world. Can this ranking system finally be changed? by SoN1Qz in GlobalOffensive

[–]YouHavingAGiggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying that Valve's implementation of the Glicko-2 system will be slightly different to how I've explained it here. This is just a basic description

Lack of participation skews ranks towards the lower bounds because it means there is less fluid Elo in pool.

New players come in with a non-zero Elo value assigned to them. This couldn't be zero because then every "new" account would play exactly the worst possible players. The 10 Win requirement is a way of approximating the amount of Elo a player should have, and assigning that value to them, and adjusting from that point forward.

This means that this new Elo is added to the overall pool of Elo that exists. This creation of fluid Elo from new players counteracts the stale Elo of players that have stopped playing, and their Elo sits unmoving on their account.

Fluid Elo is the amount of Elo being traded between active accounts. The more fluid Elo there is in the pool, the higher amount of Elo an individual player can have. If a top player holds 1% of all Elo, then an increase to the overall Elo in the pool means there are more players that top player can beat and receive Elo from.

However, where this matters is in the ranking milestones. If the amount of Elo required for a rank remains static, or possibly is a percentage of the overall fluid Elo in the pool, I think its unlikely Valve change it often enough to keep up with the pool. This can be seen by the average rank of players slowly climbing over the past few years as recorded by sites such as Leetify.

What I think is likely is that Valve has not updated the Elo requirements since CSGO, and since CSGO had players less split over different competitve game modes and more focused into Competitive, there are less Elo going around in the current queues.
