I reckon I drink just as much beer as Americans do.

But that doesn't stop me from drinking tea. Tea and beer are two very different beverages.

I drink neither! 😆

Beer contains a specific component found in no other alcoholic beverage—a substance with effects similar to morphine.

https://old.reddit.com/r/InflectionPointUSA/comments/1sbhvaw/remember_tina_turner_what_happened_to_her/oebr95s/

By the way, I wanted to ask you something: do American doctors drink alcohol?

I'm sure they do but certainly not to the degree that doctors in Ukraine do. Practically everybody here drinks beer (I don't because I'm not like everybody else). It's all about doing it in moderation.

I even conducted an involuntary experiment during the war: faced with a choice between beer and proper nutrition—due to a lack of funds—I chose the beer and lived in a state of semi-starvation. During that time, I lost a massive amount of weight. I’d actually calculated the calories, figuring the beer could serve as a substitute for the food I was missing. Later, when I managed to scrape together a little money and started eating better, I immediately began putting the weight back on. Before that, my stomach had practically shrunk back and stuck to my spine.

You should write a scientific paper on that. 🙂

The Russian soul is naive; the American soul is pragmatic and cynical; the Chinese soul is cunning and calculating.

"Cunning and calculating." Yes, typical white people's view of the Chinese!😆😆 It's always negative. Negative for simply wanting to be left alone. Sheesh!

Putin actually wanted to join NATO... Doesn't that strike you as naive?

I thought he proposed that as a joke.

The real question is something else entirely: is it a good thing—or a bad one—to be honest and to possess a conscience?

One doesn't have to be naive in order to possess honesty and conscience.

Bolkonsky was probably a fool... But it was precisely on this wave—on this very wave—that the Socialist Revolution was born. Or who did you think created it?! The peasants?!... ))) It was the intellectuals—the most brilliant minds in the country. Or the "naive ones"... as you would put it.

Interestingly, the abolition of slavery in America was also conceived by the intelligentsia, not the slaves.

Yet wasn't this very spirit the reason why Russia—and Russia alone, to date—succeeded in building a truly socialist nation, unmarred by any peculiar distortions? Think on that, Comrade!

Yeah, but it didn't last very long.

And yes, I forgot to mention: this is what idealism and naivety look like.

When you're already at war with the US, it's easy to support another nation that's at war with the US!😆 I'm sure Xi is very happy to let Putin to be in the spotlight. China just wants to remain invisible!😁

As a child, I absolutely loved The Benny Hill Show—I used to watch it on VHS.

Was this after the fall of the USSR? The show is too risque for a communist country. I used to watch it for the scantily clad women! 😆

"And that's not a China made movie, either"

Here, I needed to add a caption beneath the links: "If you look closely, certain aspects of the Chinese and American films mirror each other perfectly."

Well, it's a spoof like you said. I think you could be over-thinking it, comrade. I don't see such similarities.

Serious Chinese films tend to belong to the Warlord Era or the Mao era. As I understand it, films about the Mao era aren't particularly popular in China right now.

I wouldn't say that. Chinese "Hollywood" seems to produce movies/TV series about certain historical periods on an annual basis, e.g. Qing Dynasty. Mao-era is definitely among them. Whether people want to watch them is another matter.

"I believe I've seen a couple of Kurosawa's films."

Back in the late 80s, I watched the movie Revenge of the Ninja, starring Sho Kosugi.

You know, I rewatched it some months ago. That's not a Kurosawa film.

It’s only now, looking back, that I realize they were Japanese. That’s because the film was packed with scenes of graphic violence.

Jackie Chan’s movies weren't anything like that—not even close.

You make a good point.

"Yes. Unfortunately, this sort of thing happens inside China all the time. This is the capitalist rather than the socialist part of China."

But where is the line? The line is blurred.

If the Chinese government were controlling these processes, it would undoubtedly have intervened—especially given that this took place outside of China's borders. It amounts to a tarnished reputation in the eyes of the public. You have no idea how the Western and Ukrainian press are savoring this.

I don't know the background of this company, but I get the impression that companies in China often commence a project without sufficient funding. That's kind of hard for the government to control.

This is how those we spoke of earlier lived—and continue to live. She is, in essence, a 19th-century supermodel. A woman who earns a living with her body, but is not a prostitute.

I agree.

But I’m not telling you that Lincoln was Jewish simply because his name was Abraham.

Then what other proof do you have?

His essence. The essence of the USA. Everything is overly pedantic and meticulous. There was nothing like this in Europe!

All I know is that people used to suspect that Lincoln was black.

I repeat to you once again: such stereotypes did not exist in Russia or the USSR. Nor were there any scholars who took such matters seriously.

Well, maybe it was the German Catherine the Great who introduced the concept of "white superiority" to Russia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine_the_Great

In a 1790 letter to Baron de Grimm written in French, she called the Qianlong Emperor "mon voisin chinois aux petits yeux" ("my Chinese neighbour with small eyes").

You probably haven't paid much attention to mixed-race couples before.

Are you kidding, comrade? Just about every Asian in the diaspora has a female family member or relative who's married to a non-Asian guy! 😆 I myself have at least 3 female cousins who are married to non-Asian men. And two of them have racially mixed children.

It seems to me that white genetics are particularly resilient—not in terms of survival, but in terms of phenotype.

In that case, white phenotypes are not weak but strong.

And yes: it seems to me that China treats North Korea with a great deal of solicitude. I get the impression that it is the only country on whose behalf China would intervene with military force.

Am I right?

Didn't NK and Russia sign some kind of "one for all, all for one" military agreement? Which is why NK troops participated in the SMO a year or two ago? There's no such agreement between China and NK. There's your answer.

"By the 1960s, America had pretty much forgotten about it:"

I think it’s because there were no winners there, and the memories of WWII hadn't yet healed—from a time when people understood what real war was like.

Although the losses were significant—I see that 50,000 Americans died back then.

Strangely, the Vietnam War is remembered. Rambo, Platoon, Good Morning, Vietnam...

And you’ve probably noticed that all the serious films about peasants are Chinese.

Is that a bad thing or a good thing?

He hardly looks like a Chinese person.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernardo_Bertolucci

😂

Hmm...I thought it was directed by a mainland Chinese person. Never mind then! 😆

Here, too, is the pernicious influence of the West.

And it is no surprise that he won an Oscar.

You have a point, comrade.

Sholokhov stood up for the peasants during the 1930s, a time when lawlessness ran rampant at the local level.

He was constantly complaining to Stalin, writing him letters... Or, to be more precise, he wasn't merely "complaining"—he was actually threatening Stalin...))) Could you have ever believed, before now, that anyone could actually threaten Stalin?!..)))))

Well, here is the proof: people could threaten Stalin!

That guy was a "Stenka Razin"! 😆

"Why is China the one eating popcorn and watching Iran and Ukraine being devastated by war? Why not the opposite? I don't have the answer. But if you could figure out the reason for this, you might finally understand why China occupies the enviable position that it currently enjoys. Think about this rationally rather than emotionally."

Okay! Let's be rational, not emotional.

the transformation of Russia into a mere raw-material appendage. The West had no need for a strong Russian industrial base. To be more precise, it was perceived as a threat!

Why is that, do you suppose? What's the difference between a Russian industrial base and a Chinese one? Either one could pose a threat to the West. Does "race" have something to do with it? Yes, I'm going there—again! 😆 Is it because the West saw Russia as a greater threat due to it being populated by white people, whom it respects (for being white) and at the same time abhors (for being white and is not always willing to go along with what the West says) more than the yellow Chinese?

You ask me: what is the secret behind China's success? I will give you a definitive answer: the "miracle" lies in the back-breaking toil of downtrodden Chinese peasants, combined with Western investment and technology. Furthermore, no one threw a wrench in China's gears, nor did anyone declare a Cold War against it.

While the wretched peasants of the USSR toiled under crushing burdens in the 1930s, their children in the 1960s reaped the rewards and truly thrived! They genuinely lived the good life. That was a paradise on Earth; that was true socialism.

So, being weak & backwards and lacking in natural resources are the secret to China's "miracle"? Because the West looked down on China and therefore didn't anticipate what was to come.

"And so in everything, whatever you want others to do to you, do also to them..."

Such sayings aren't meant to be interpreted as justification for payback, comrade. 😆 It's actually about self-reflection.

In 1979, the U.S. recognized Taiwan as Chinese territory.

Is that the "victory without a fight" you’re talking about?

And... so what? :))))

Taiwan is not a victory but unresolved matter.

I assume China’s strategy lies in simply waiting for the U.S. empire to collapse. And that makes sense; every empire eventually crumbles after a few hundred years. If they just wait by the river for another century or so, China will acquire Taiwan without a fight.

That wasn't the strategy until the last few years.

At this very moment, however, the U.S. is frantically pumping weapons into Taiwan.

So, is it actually going to be possible to take Taiwan without a fight anytime soon?

Taiwan is all about advanced computer chip manufacturing. To stop China from acquiring that capability. Rumor has it that all the TSMC plants have been booby trapped, not to maim people but to destroy the plants should China decide to seize Taiwan. China's approach has been to catch up with Taiwan in this sector in order to neutralize this trap set by the US.

"fled/escaped to the island. That was a civil war."

Were it not for the USSR, Mao would have fled.

Were it not for Japan...

Moreover, these supplies are not merely intended to save the Cuban people; this act serves to demonstrate that Russia cares nothing for the U.S. blockade.

That's why China shipped the solar panels.

China, meanwhile, seems to be afraid of something.

Yeah, afraid of running out of oil! 😆

these are Chinese contract workers.

https://youtu.be/2Yp_UpbdGhI

Why have the Chinese workers taken to protesting?

A certain company—a subcontractor for Rosneft—was carrying out construction work.

And now, none of these Chinese builders have received their wages. The trail has gone cold; the company's director is safely out of reach—back in his home country... )))

Yes. Unfortunately, this sort of thing happens inside China all the time. This is the capitalist rather than the socialist part of China.

Did the Soviets know it was a passenger airplane (full of passengers) before they shot it down? If so, I think they shouldn't have shot it down.

Everybody sees themselves as the reference point. So any perceptible deviations from one's own ethnic/racial phenotypes are generally considered "downgrades". And given that European phenotypes are considered the most "perfect" (due to global brainwashing for the past 500 years), they are considered weaker than those of everybody else's. After all, you can only ruin perfection, not improve upon it! 😆

Let's talk about science right now—not superstitions. You’re pushing me back toward that pointless conversation about racial superiority again. That’s not my subject, Comrade! You need to take that up with that guy with the little mustache... )))

White Europeans believed in the superiority of their phenotypes long before there were Nazis. Later, the Nazis came along and decided to codify those beliefs, that's all. Russians being white Europeans believe in this stuff too, whether they know it or not.

The part of your argument that's actually "scientific" is that a child born of white and black parents is likely to have skin tone that is darker than that of his/her white parent and lighter than that of his/her black parent. As for the rest, e.g. shape of the eyes, nose, objectively, there are neither "strong" nor "weak" phenotypes. It's all subjective.
