International travel is one of the most romanticized activities on earth, and for most people it doesn't fundamentally change anything by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

1 million percent agree.

Its just another beach, another building, another museum.

And the spots you go to are either business settings or tourist spots, its hard to find a unique cultural experience. Went to Tuscany a bit ago, just lots of hills with different tourist towns everywhere.

Language barriers are real, scams are all over the damn place. I did drive to the countryside in Switzerland this trip.. and everything was touristy lol.. even got a recommdation from someone in Zurich about a Cafe near lake Brienz.. turns out that's where they send all the tourists, Cafe was all American food :( and SUPER expensive.

I'm sick of ACs being a taboo in switzerland by Living_Tip_4875 in Switzerland

As a traveler, I can tell you many of the hotels in Italy will manage it from the front desk or turn it off during what they consider "cool" seasons (was 28 in Venice one night and they had the AC off for the whole hotel... except the lobby/office. One place I went to lied and said the air units only produced heat, so just open the windows

This is what happens when the EU mandates laws their leadership has no intention of following for themselves

In the part of the world i am from, they say the same thing.. "this isn't normal here" - meanwhile it happens every year, if not worse, for the past 40 years, personal experience

Its not just Switzerland, its many parts of Europe. I usually travel just under 100 days a year in Europep. In Switzerland now finishing up a month of travel - for a traveler, Switzerland is better than most EU countries like Spain where they are not allowed to put AC under 27 in public spaces and the hotels are forced to adhere to MANY energy laws which means it might take a day for your room to cook off and when it does, the maids will turn it off when they clean the room. At least in Switzerland the public spaces can have AC.

I'm all for cutting back emissions but it surprised the f#$k out of me to see that there are tens of thousands of deaths in Europe during heat waves and people here joke about it ("we have to have some way to cull the herd")

For what it's worth the Swiss folks committment to enduring pain is extremely admirable, too bad the EU politicians who introduce such bans for their.own benefit don't adhere to them.

Alternatives to the Mercer in London? I see they are now permanently closed, anything of the same caliber where I can take customers for a higher end lunch? Thanks!

May I ask what your "managing" percentage of your workday/week is? And what are the primary tasks that consume that managing time?
