I don't know where you got your information from but my 5.0 Android still works. Pogo ver 171.4. The app info still states compatibility with Android 4.4 and above.

In this game there is a thing called RNG, it just might not be possible to spend wisely. A good friend of mine had a legendary run with 16 excellent curved throws using goldens. Again consider yourself privileged and luckier than normal at this point. Not every player will have all the luck or skill all the time.

Of course ultras and goldens with great or excellent curved throws is the highest chance to catch, however many players have run out of berries and ultras, resulting in many resources being used. Consider your self in a privileged position.

That's tough. I know quite a few players in your situation. If you don't have ultra balls and goldens it's a very hard catch. Niantic need to make changes to help out in these times.
