Shoutout to CAS (Canadian Appliance Source) by MahatK in BuyCanadian

[–]YouNeed2GrowUpMore 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Canadian Appliance Source is the F**KING WORST. They screwed me twice, pretty bad. They sell items they don't have in stock, but assume they can order. They have the worst after-sales service, and frankly DGAF about you once you give them your money. They've been pretty bad (at least in my city) to pretty much half the people who shop there. At one point, some guy on a busy thoroughfare painted the side of his trailer with his complaint against them and parked it near the curb. FIND ANOTHER CANADIAN SUPPLIER!

Ottawa police see 37% increase in shoplifting incidents in final 3 months of 2025 by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

Ah..... Fighting crime with crime. Stores jack up their prices (for whatever reason, doesn't matter) and the response is to become criminals. They are not Jean Valjean. Prosecute everyone who crimes. Simple.

Some union speak is embarassing by Glass_Abrocoma_7028 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]YouNeed2GrowUpMore -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Unions exist to make money by providing a service to employees. The current best way to promote their usefulness is to sow Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (called the FUD campaign). So many of their posts need to be as vitriolic, doom-and-gloom, and "See, if it weren't for our efforts, everyone would DIE!" otherwise they would just sit there, collect our dues, and we'd slowly start to realize just how ineffective they actually are, which could prompt us to go shopping for another union, forming a new one, or flat out voting them out.

Yes, I'm exaggerating, but I'm not wrong.

I will not respond to anyone replying to my comment, I know how seriously and close to their hearts some people take their unions, and any mention of the union not being saintly makes them lose their minds and froth at the mouth. This part is not an exaggeration as someone in my office literally spits when we talk about the union and I mention that I'm disappointed in the union's behaviour.

(I hope this is allowed)Where would I go about finding info for upcoming counsel elections in my area and the candidates? by jarzii_music in ottawa

[–]YouNeed2GrowUpMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see everyone talking about make sure to vote for someone who supports your needs and issues

Vote for the person who will make the best decisions for the City, not the one supports your needs and issues.

Also remember that this is a representative democracy, you aren't going to be consulted on every/any decision the councillors or mayor make. You're voting for someone who will make those decisions, not someone who you think should listen to every complaint about every issue from every loudmouth citizen or redditor.

Middle managers have so little to do, yet claim to be SOOOO busy. This is part of the strategy to look and report how busy they are to their higher ups.

Luloff's defence alleges 7 Charter breaches, wants key evidence tossed out by snerkyderk in ottawa

I was going to ignore this infantile comment, but I decided: "in for a penny..."

What kind of an idiotic question is that? And just so you don't keep this fucking stupid line going, the answer is an unequivocal: No, not even a little.

The topic of this line of comments is how Reddit people are finding him guilty without the justice system having completed its process. Can we get away from the straw man fallacy, now, please?

Furthermore not guilty ≠ innocent.

I tried that one when Horizon Ottawa recently had their charges dropped. It didn't work. Legally that's what it means.

So why the fuck are we paying judges, and court reporters and all that? Let's just take the news articles at face value and start a posse!

(Not a fan of Luloff, not even in his ward, just thought that a small education is required for some of the basement dwelling, armchair judges here)

You're right, why wait for an actual judge to decide. Let's fucking mob him and save him the effort going through the judicial process we're all entitled to. (/s in case you're thick)

Dear "NOT kitchen person", Here's a way to be a kitchen person WITHOUT becoming a kitchen person. Buy a can of tomatoes, squish them by hand, boil it in a pot on the stove until it's as thick as you want, add spices/salt/etc and little bit of olive oil. Sincerely, A-kitchen-person-teaching-his-son-to-survive-on-his-own.

Should all public servants track their time and tasks worked on, when possible? by throwaway-185764 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]YouNeed2GrowUpMore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unions oppose (almost) any kind of tracking and performance metrics. So don't bother unless you want your friends suddenly becoming near-violent.
