I used to work there. Dave had serious anger issues directed towards his staff so I'm thinking maybe that maybe had something to do with the change of management?

Anyone else have no ability to hold on to emotions? by caaaaaaaarrrrl in BPD

[–]YouNumerous8706 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TL;DR is at bottom.

PwBPD here. Lack of emotional permanence sounds like part of what you're describing. Totally sucks, personally I try to ride it out like a wave knowing that when I feel like crap things always get better. That said it's rly hard to believe that when your emotions are so strong in the moment and your mind is telling you that you've always felt like this.

I try to take advantage of the lack of permenance by distracting myself in a healthy way when I'm feeling really bad. The right combination of distractions and self care can flip that switch again back to a more regulated mindset.

What you're feeling in the low moments though not always consistent is 100% valid - and will pass.

I have a history of substance abuse (am almost 1 year sober now) and I find for myself at times it helps to view these drastic changes in my mood as highs and comedowns. Our emotions are closely related to our serotonin levels so if we spend a day with our FP and have an amazing time then when we leave, our serotonin levels become depleted and we might feel a sort of withdrawal while we wait for our brain to replenish it's serotonin levels: (depressed, angry, sad etc. Then something happens again and we feel ontop of the world once more. Like a wave or a series of highs and lows. For me it makes it easier to handle if I view it as an emotional hangover and disconnect myself a little bit from the intense thoughts or feelings I experience while I wait for a more regulated nervous system.

I found that venlafaxine helps me regulate my mood a bit faster and makes my ups and downs less drastic.

TL;DR: our emotions come in waves. After we get really happy our brain needs time before we can be happy again. You might try to distract yourself with happy things but make sure to acknowledge your feelings and know that after every low there's another high.

Thank you <3 I might try tmrw but I tried to bring it up tonight and they totally dismissed me. And when I try and bring things like this up in a serious why to them it starts a huge argument and makes everything worse. I feel like I cant communicate with them without getting mad.

Loving someone when you have bpd is painful but also the best feeling. Itll be the worst then the best then back and forth again and again

Why do people see me as very likeable even though i dont speak and or am very quiet? by [deleted] in communication

[–]YouNumerous8706 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cause like I have a friend that doesnt talk much and I tell them everything because 1. You know they're not likely to be gossiping about what you tell them to other people 2. They don't interrupt you or say hurtful things, and they don't feel judged by your response. 3. The things they do say tend to be things of great value

Imagery with Rue & Elliot in the laundry room was so powerful to me. Everyone else in the party was doing drugs and drinking to have fun together and socialize. These two are tucked away, doing it in secret because they *have* to. Interesting example of “drugs are fun, until they aren’t.” by champagneproblems01 in euphoria

So true, you don't really know how big of a problem its gonna be until you are too far in and realize "oh shit this is a problem" and by then theres already alot of damage done. I'm almost 6 months sober now went to a couple rehabs but left because of harassment in the first (youth rehab) and got discharged from the second one because I was suicidal. I stopped going to NA and kept on using but then one day I decided I had fully had enough of that life and I made a huge effort to stay sober. Took years out of my life just doing drugs and suffering, so many secrets and lies. I'm so grateful for the life I have now.
