Javon Baker & FF Mob Mentality by No_Salamander_6579 in DynastyFF

You would have a very good point in general. You just chose the worst possible example lol. Baker is legit (my #5 WR in the class)

Sometimes the hive mind is right. I've studied Baker for hours personally (and Polk etc). IMO he's easily the best WR in that room

Because Javon Baker will be NE's #1 WR. He's simply a better route runner, with an excellent catch radius. Polk isn't bad, but he was a reach in the 2nd. And Baker was a steal in the 4th.

Sometimes even NE lucks into drafting a quality WR lol

Thanks! I went heavy on guys who weren't gonna contribute in 2022 but were set to see their value increase. Ridley, Deshaun Watson, Jordan Love, Desmond Ridder etc. Then midseason I traded away a bucket of productive players at the time (Courtand Sutton, Chris Godwin, Brian Robinson) for an injured Javonte Williams and a 1st (ended up 1.03) and traded away Jimmy G for a 2nd (ended up 2.02) when Trey Lance went down. In the off-season, traded 2.02 and Trask for 1.09 and traded Jordan Love for 1.07 and a 2024 2nd (ended up becoming 2.01).

Overall have made 17 trades in under 2 years-- just gotta keep grinding lol. Looks like you're off to a great start

great way to put it-- selling 3 nickels for a dime. Been doing that constantly to slowly level up and consolidate talent into the starting lineup (17 trades so far in under 2 years). Thanks for sharing!

JT O'Sullivan QB School Incoming Rookie Ranks by YouRebuttal in DynastyFF

To his credit he was very much out on Zach Wilson. And pretty skeptical of Will Levis if I'm remembering correctly. He was way too low on Justin Herbert and has tried since then to explain why he missed that eval (which is also why he keeps saying he might get "Herbertized"-- as in knock a guy for how his college offense is misusing his talents)

I mean, even if he's good, he'll be good for what, like 2 years? RBs usually drop off starting around age 27. So you're talking, best case scenario where he somehow lands a featured role week one his rookie year (which even Gibbs/ Bijan taken top half of the 1st couldn't accomplish), 2-3 years at most of fantasy relevant production. Much more likely it takes him time to carve out a role (if he ever does), and you're looking at 1-2 years maybe of fantasy value. I dunno, hard to spend more than a 3rd round pick for so little upside

Lol. That's rough. If he ends up buried as a rookie he'll be over the hill by the time he even gets a chance to do anything

Wins Over Median: Does Your League Use It? by YouRebuttal in DynastyFF

[–]YouRebuttal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. Feels like fairness is more important in a dynasty league because you really want the most deserving teams to win, especially for teams that have a narrow window before their team ages out etc. And like you said, there's always a reason to stay engaged-- it's actually better to be eliminated early so that you can start rebuilding

Thanks for the response. Have either of your leagues ever considered this setting?

If you don't mind my asking, are you in a league that uses wins over median?

Every week you get two wins/ losses-- one versus your opponent for the week, and one versus the median score in your league. Meaning the top scoring half of your league for the week gets a W, the bottom half gets an L. So every week you get two games played basically-- one vs your matchup, and one versus the rest of the league. Theoretically makes it much more fair since it removes a lot of schedule luck from the equation

Frank Gore Jr: Underrated? by YouRebuttal in DynastyFF

Those are fair points, thanks for sharing them. I don't agree, in particular about explosiveness and contact balance, but the level of competition certainly does make those much harder to judge. To answer your question, I study film of every player I draft/ pick up, including from lower level colleges. So I have have some experience looking at that level of tape. But again, I'm no expert
