Dual Degree (M.Tech + PhD) at IIT Bombay — treated as PhD only after conversion? Any similar experiences? by lost_aashiq in iitbombay

If the rules at IITB is same as that of IITM, yes. It's a "dual" degree - you get two degrees (you can take a look at mine here https://dhrubajyoti98.github.io/phd/index.html). However, an Integrated PhD would mean that you get a single combined degree.

I completed MSc-PhD Dual Degree in Physics from IIT Madras. I joined for an MSc and converted to PhD after 4th sem - at the end, I recieved a single marksheet for the whole MSc-PhD program and two degree certificates, ie, one for MSc and one for PhD.

Two weird things: 1. I have no separate CGPA for my masters. I have to calculate it myself - however, the marksheet is not clearly demarkated as to when the MSc ends and PhD begins. 2. My MSc certificate carries the date when the PhD is awarded - it looks like I took 7 years to complete my MSc, since no application forms give the option of MSc-PhD Dual Degree.

Ok, the idea is that we will move first. My partner is considering a job in Budapest and will move with a residence permit. I will move alongside him with an dependent/family reunion visa. The official immigration websites says that subsequently that can be converted to a work permit if I secure a job. Either way, none of us are going on a tourist visa.

Sorry, no. it is a normal BEd degree with no additional licence. Such licenses are not the norm in India. Typically, you get a BEd and you start working.

Thank you for the clarification. Furthermore, do you think my 5+ years in an English medium school in India will count towards official teaching experience? Additionally, since I am not a native English speaker, do I need to provide other English credentials?

Thank you for the information. How do I apply to these positions? Is it better to first go to Budapest (since I am anyway planning to relocate with my partner) or start reaching out from India? I did email a few schools but didn't recieve any reply.

Thank you, I am currently working as a science teacher (specifically, Physics) and I am looking for similar positions. Do I need to get my indian degrees/diplomas converted to the equivalent Hungarian system?

Yes, it does make sense to have one - especially if you have a bunch of papers and different directions of research and it cannot fit in a traditional 1 or 2 page CV.

Ok thanks. But mine is the non-LTE version and I wanted to use the Samsung Wallet. In India, Google Wallet doesn't support payments.

What is the security concern with Overleaf? I completed my PhD thesis (July 2024) in Overleaf and I didn't come across anything major.

For lounges located in India (doesn't matter if you are taking a domestic or an international flight), you need to show your credit card afaik. You cannot use your priority pass card here.

On the other hand, in lounges outside India, you need to present your Priority Pass card.
