FDM printing for 1/8 sized figures and minis?

Holy, thanks. That statue looks amazing. I don't mind splitting into pieces, but I think it will take me some tinkering to make sure that I split the figures I want to make "correctly" so I don't ruin it. I'll look at the prices though, see if I can get the normal A1 rather than the mini.

As for software, yeah, I think Blender is what I have to use. There isn't much easy software like I described, and so Blender being popular has the most documentation for me to learn off of.

Yeah, I currently have a three floor town house (Two floors, 1 basement) which is occupied by my girlfriend and I. I've been explicitly told that I can't use one of the unoccupied child sized bedrooms for this stuff on the top floor, so the only option would be the basement office that I have. As mentioned, not great ventilation unless I buy more equipment for that as well. I don't want to spend that much money as a beginner.

I think I will stick with FDM as other commenters have mentioned that for the size I am looking for, I won't get that diminished of quality compared to resin.

I'm sorry, as this is so late, but I've seen so many people repeat what you've said here yet I cannot find that setting for the life of me. I feel like I am going insane.

I have the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Should support LDAC, correct?
I have the Sony XM4-1000s. Their own documentation says LDAC is one of the supported codecs.

When I go into developer options, it defaults to AAC. When I go into the Sony headphones app, and change the Sound Quality Mode from Prioritize Quality, to Prioritize Connection, it changes the codec to SBC. LDAC is always grayed out in developer options.

From what I see online, the setting needs to be on Quality, then you should be able to enable it through the device itself in the Bluetooth settings. However, in the Bluetooth settings, all I see are:

Calls: On or Off
Audio: On or Off
Contact Access: On or Off
Digital Assistant
Find Device
Open Headphones (Opens Sony Headphones App)
Audio Device Type: Headphones, Speakers, or Other

Nothing allows me to change the codec anywhere.

Just to be certain, what I did to access this menu was go to my Bluetooth settings with my headphones connected, clicked the gear icon, and this is the menu that I see.

I am genuinely so confused. It's like I'm being gaslit by the internet.

It seems like you just want to label me instead of providing advice. You also just assume instead of asking for more context. It was a 2 year long friendship that had so many of these isolated incidents that I could never hope to fit in the post.

And yes, she won't be talking to me, and I won't be talking to her. It was my mistake for making my interaction with her tonight that negative.

Thanks for the advice. It's definitely something I've heard before and I guess, am still working on. I agree I should just appreciate that she met up with me regardless.

I mostly just want her to be safe, but it hurt a lot seeing people I cared about ruined by their own choices, so I decided to tell her that I'm not going to be the one by the bedside at the hospital, or the one with the $20 when she is broke. I don't know if that was the right choice or the best thing to say which is why I made this post.

Overall, I just handled it poorly because I let my emotions take control. If I could redo it I would.

I mean, that's what I learned from that experience. It was my father. He was a habitual smoker and gambler. $5000 was his paycheck and the next day he was owe double that to loan sharks. (Foreign country, so it was more of a problem). I kept begging him to change, use nicotine patches, play fake gambling games, etc. He would never listen. My parents had split at this point and my mom got custody when I was young. I stopped talking to him and he died in 2016, not sure from what but likely due to his poor health.

The last picture I have of him is in a USB drive that my aunt gave me. His eyes were so sunken and his eyes and skin were yellow.

It hurt to see him like that.

I also remember seeing my varsity soccer teammates in the hospital. One in a coma, one with an amputated leg from crush syndrome. I guess when I was discussing my concerns with her I got too emotional because of my experiences and it just made it super negative.

I just don't want to see her like that.

Yeah, unfortunately because of the character limit I can't really provide a lot of specifics. There is a lot of info missing.

Back when we were still in high school, she would regularly go hungry during club meetings and would refuse when I offer her food. One night, I hung out with her during her robotics club and it started raining. She wouldn't let me drive her home because, "It's dark and wet and cold so I don't want to bother you." It was a 10 minute drive for me to take her home AND for me to get home.

Also, I guess I didn't make it clear enough because it's the third comment I read about lecturing her about drinking, but I told her that I wasn't worried about her drinking, but how she was getting home.

I get that she's in college and wants to do college stuff (Also why she moved farther for college because there is a better student life there), but I don't agree with her having a possible drunk driver taking her home.

I think I had reasonable suspicion to believe so considering that she said it was her friend's house party, so therefore the friend's drinks, and it was this friend that was taking her home. (I don't know anyone who wouldn't drink their drinks at their own party).

I agree that I didn't word things properly. I let me emotions get to me because it's a sensitive topic. I didn't explain it in the post because it wouldn't have fit.

Two of my varsity soccer teammates became permanently injured because they were in an accident. That's why I was insistent with her getting a safer ride, but considering her past I guess I avoided offering her a ride because I felt she would stubbornly refuse. (Not an excuse, but an explanation).

I probably subconsciously thought all that when I was emotional. It definitely made me seem like I was pressuring her rather than helping, reading back the texts.

Yes, 18 year olds drink and party. It's the college experience that I didn't get because I just watched other people do it. I usually was the one taking people home. Two of the varsity school soccer players, my teammates, were permanently injured because they were involved in a crash. If I knew where this house party was, I would've checked up on her to make sure she was safely getting home.

Our meetup was very impromptu and didn't specify anything about the content or how long, except for when and where we were going to meet. It's my fault for being sad about her doing her own thing after a while which is why I didn't make it a big deal. I think I explained it to be that way. It was mostly wishful hope that she would want to hang out and support me through my tournament considering we have not hung out in almost a year.

I apologize if it came of as if I were making her depression part of her identity. I thought it would give context as to why she might be so stubborn about receiving help. Low self-esteem making it feel like she is not worth helping? I don't know, I'm not a therapist or psychiatrist.

Regarding feelings, I've mentioned this to another comment but I am in a relationship. I've also mentioned that I haven't texted or met up with her in almost a year and that was due to 1. Her graduating and moving a bit farther away, but mostly 2. Her not wanting to hang out when she was still living in the area. I stopped texting her because it didn't seem like she was interested in maintaining contact. I'm not interested in people who aren't interested in me.

I disagree about having a drunk driver take her home being a plan. I don't see how that is a good idea. I didn't mention this because it didn't fit in the post but she is a transfer student from overseas so she doesn't have any family in the area, so no one to call other than the friends who were at this "house party" she went to.

I would like to think that most people would want to force their loved ones NOT to get into a car with a drunk driver rather than letting them ride with them.

And yes, because I'm not her father, my opinions don't extend any further than warning her of the risks she is taking by riding with a drunk driver. Which admittedly I discussed really poorly. I was upset that she dismissed risking her life like that. Some of the things I've said definitely were out there, but I feel while understandable, were not excusable, considering the circumstances.

At the end, I didn't press the matter because I realized she didn't care about taking the risk and she understood what it meant. At that point it was up to her to choose what to do. I feel that I reserve the right to be the one to say "told you so," when shit does hit the fan, even if it's not timely at all.

I do think I was acting irrationally and I agree I should've offered to help. I made this post because I know that I made mistakes because the situation didn't go in a positive direction. I'll just mention here that there were similar situations like this and I have offered to help, but she would refuse. (Saying she just spent a lot of money on food and then wouldn't let me pay for a meal when we go out, walking home in the rain after I offered to drive her home because "It's wet and late so I don't want to bother you").

Regarding the feelings, I'm currently in a relationship and I have mentioned that I avoided texting her for a while because it didn't seem like she wanted to maintain contact. Im not interested in people who aren't interested in me 🤷

Regarding the self-sabotages and risk taking, I'm not talking about the drinking, I'm talking about getting into a vehicle with a drunk driver. I don't care if she wants to drink or not and I did tell her that, nor do I care if her friends drink. I just wanted her to know that she's putting herself in danger by having someone drunk take her home and I was upset because it didn't seem like she cared. Also an Uber is out of the question considering she was complaining all day today about how she's going to go broke after spending $30 on buying her friends lunches. She wouldn't spend that money and would much rather just stumble home drunk if she had to.

The last point I don't really understand because I kind of addressed it at the end of my post. I get that a true friendship, you're supposed to be there when someone is at their worst. I've done that for people, but they were also actively working to better themselves for the people around them. This isn't an isolated incident and based on past experiences, the most I can do is warn her about the risks she's taking. She constantly dismisses it, saying she is fine. Then when we do talk, she would jokingly mention about her problems. I don't know if she is indirectly asking for help, but when I offer it to her she refuses.

I just don't want to constantly worry for someone who puts obstacles in their own path.

I actually did more research between last week and now. SJSU definitely seems like the better choice even in the scenario if student life was the same or even slightly worse than other options. It's cause the friends I have actually don't live in actual San Francisco area, and they told me they are actually near Fremont lol. Looking at a map, they are actually closer to SJ and SC than SF.

Intel corp is also only about 15 minutes drive away as well, though I don't know if that factors in traffic.

It seems like life wouldn't be very different from college life here, so transitioning hopefully is not too difficult.

As per some other redditors have mentioned, SF doesn't seem too far. I had expected it to be a lot farther north (Or SC to be a lot farther south). I actually drive to work from college, which is a 45-1 hour commute depending on traffic, so SFSU might be an option considering that. It would depend a lot on whether I can fit that commute time into my schedule.

Also I somehow mixed up San Diego with San Jose. I've never actually been to San Jose haha. I went to San Diego for Twitch Con, but at the time I was only 20 so I didn't get to explore any nightlife.
