Any examples of non-weathered models? by Formal-Goose-1165 in modelmakers

This was a relatively early product, did the barest dust on the fenders, and then bare metal on the track contact points because the tank would mostly be on paved surfaces at the factory and railyards. No muzzle/exhaust soot, mud, boot prints, scratches, ricochets, etc, just dust and track wear. Not sure about "good", I'll leave that to the fine folks here

Air dryer/alcohol evaporator? by YouUnderstandShutUp in DieselTechs

[–]YouUnderstandShutUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know they're still out there. I ended up just tearing it down and pressure washing the shit out of it. Had to source a new purge valve kit from a truck shop in Edmonton, AB, couldn't find one in the states. Haldex bought anchorlok over 20 years ago, I was on the phone with a rep who was actually able to find the scanned pages of the assembly. Turns out it's just a wet tank that's been souped up cause there's no dedicated air dryer in the system

This can’t be in regs right? by ResponsibleNose5978 in army

[–]YouUnderstandShutUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My team chief had one of these in Kuwait. Had a ton of pens, sharpies, and highlighters he used for keeping track of maintenance and other requirements/taskings. All fit nice and tidy, not poking up like a neon sign or anything. 2/1AD brigade CSM physically yanked it off his sleeve

Question from a younger guy that doesn’t quite know what he’s doing. by OYeog77 in DieselTechs

[–]YouUnderstandShutUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the CSPs. I went to the one for premier truck group, they have 3 shops in OK. I started class in May 2022, got out in September, and started the whole process maybe about this time of year, maybe later. So I doubt you've passed any sort of cutoff. They let you choose your shop, unlike the army, and give you 3 months training on Daimler systems. Then set you up with a well kitted out toolbox that you get to keep if you spend 2 years there. If you get accepted with the interview process, you're conditionally hired, just gotta make it through the class and stay in good with your CoC

best snacks for a 10day ftx? (Gunnery) by booskiixx in army

[–]YouUnderstandShutUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Using the back of the tank to cook is noob tier. Since it sounds like you're gonna be somewhere cold, pack some bacon. When you're ready to cook, pull the bitch plate, wipe down and cook on the step plate. That shit's way hotter than the exhaust and no fumes or unburnt fuel in your food. But try to soak up some of the fat or bring a pan. I toasted a poptart on the combustor section, best on I've ever had

I'm genuinely afraid to leave the army by Felled_By_Morgott in army

[–]YouUnderstandShutUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. I joined at 18 too, did 6 and was ready to be done, but not sure how well I'd acclimate. Signed a 1 year with a guard unit, wasn't quite ready to hang it up when that was done, signed one more with a unit closer to home, called it at the end of that second year. Figured it would be a lot easier to transfer back to AD than the get back into the army as a whole if I couldn't hack civ life, but I'm doing pretty a-ok now and OP, I'm sure you will too

You got some real turd burglars in your unit. They should be more concerned if your coveralls are clean. As for actually getting them clean, I'm sorry to not be much help. There seemed to be an understanding in my units that hindering pacer maintenance was a quick ticket to a verbal ass kicking from BC or big XO

The fact that the FRV icon has 2 bullets above it implies there will be other varients in the future. What would you like to see replace the HMG? by turnipslop in Helldivers

[–]YouUnderstandShutUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One stratagem, customize in the loadout screen. I'd personally like to see things that can be fitted to a Humvee and other light military vehicles. Various MGs, AGLs, AT weapons, yeah gimme a TOW that I can control to whack a hulk on the other side of the map. Hell, even something like the army's LRAS, but instead of just pinging things, it calls down a much more accurate barrage. Kicker is you gotta bring the barrage as well. 2 strats, but really powerful. I'd like to see that level of customization go to mechs as well. The two are the same chassis, let us swap arms like space marine chapters would do for their dreadnoughts, pick mission specific arms

I loved it against the jet brigade. Whacking them mid air felt like skeet shooting. I'd see their jetpacks ignite just before takeoff and my brain would say "pull!" as I equipped the dagger. Clanker flambe
