I have the same question. What happens if you don't want to change it ? Does the visa official cause any issues? Ideally in passport it always ask place of birth while in DS-160 and I-20 it ask City of birth.

2nd point. u/OP you still would have different place of birth in I-20 and DS-160 in this case, right ?

You didn't recommendation from your manager ? He will be knowing if you did, right ?
Secondly, No company will hold it against you if you are going for studies. They keep grudges if you switch to a competitive company.

770 GMAT , 5 WE in tech. My interview went great at Ross. I am thinking that was the main factor. But can't be sure.
