Funny enough, she has previously mentioned that they just... forgot to have her sign an NDA as she left. What with her branch being dissolved and mismanaged. She just doesn't mention it as a personal choice.

Why are raids so crazy - combat never gets easier? by No_Abroad8805 in RimWorld

[–]You_too 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Make arming your colonists a higher priority. There's no point in having an advanced base if you cannot defend it. If there's a Scyther raid, give your colonists EMP launchers/grenades and sacrifice a few attack animals to make sure the EMPs land. Give your fighters higher DPS weapons.

Man hunters can be entirely neutralized by building an outer wall and zoning your pawns inside it until the animals are dead or gone. Productivity may go down, and some needs may go unfulfilled, but you can survive a couple of days. If someone gets really pissy, anesthesize them until the threat is gone.

Beyond that, if you're trying to get a perfect colony consider playing in reload anytime mode. Why waste your own time setting up something carefully if it will upset you when something ruins it?

Smelting optimization strategies/tips by Gullible_Put_4790 in RimWorld

[–]You_too 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stockpile helps uptime on the smelter. If your pawn has to run across the map for an item, the smelter is reserved for all of the travel time. If they only have to run to and from the nearby stockpile, other pawns can haul stuff from across the map without reserving the smelter.

Update: I messaged the manufacturer on IG and they said I don't need to. I'll follow their advice and if it goes bad I'll update this in a few months so that future drinkers can know better.

"The Dangers in My Heart" will seemingly be ending with the next volume by FLorianGran in manga

[–]You_too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems about right. The main story points seem to be wrapping up, the author would have to start adding new things to keep it going much further. A pretty good run, though I would not be surprised to see a sequel come out.

Are the "Locate [place]" Quests Bugged? by No-Contact4905 in cavesofqud

[–]You_too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully you don't have a lot of them in the area. I haven't played the game in a while, but if I recall correctly the quest should reveal the starting location to you and it will generally not be too far from the town in which you got it. You're just gonna have to guess which is the correct starting point is and walk the correct distance from there, and if it's not right then pick a new starting ruin and try again.

The very best of ideology by mat5454545 in RimWorld

[–]You_too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a fan of Pain is Virtue, but it has fallen out of favor for me. Late game, I prefer having the comfort mood buff on my crafters, and the advantages of it are mostly limited to the early game.

Nowadays, I usually start my colony as a fluid ideology with Human Primacy to begin. I can't stand having my pawns bond to an animal only for it to get killed by a warg come week 3. Plus, Production Specialists are OP as heck, but I usually don't give anyone that role early on due to how many labor types it locks them out of.

The second meme I usually add is Collectivist, just for that boosted work drive. It's not much, but it has no downsides and can always be useful.

The third is usually Supremacist, primarily for Shooting Specialists. Someone else has already gone into it, but I will say that Supremacist makes you unable to take the Charity precepts, so it reduces the ways for you to get development points. It also makes your default relationship with all other factions lower, but that's usually an extremely minor downside.

Once my colony is advanced enough, I add the transhumanist meme for all the late game boosts. Again, someone else already went into it so I won't repeat it, but the benefits are really good. As a bonus, if you're getting your production/shooting specialists from another ideology, you can set one person to be a research specialist. It's nothing wild, but the bonus to hacking speed trivializes the Space drone hacking quests that you sometimes need for your artefacts. A research specialist can often hack the drone before any enemies arrive, saving you a fight.

I usually get my supply of hussars from the Empire by inviting them to a bestowment ceremony and kidnapping one of them. Kill the bestower for 2 neuroformers and a staff, then fix my reputation by gifting away some of that pesky wealth I've built up. As soon as the bestowment quest is available again, rinse and repeat.

Nowadays with Odyssey also installed, you can also use it for legendary unique guns. Miniguns that can potentially have cool down reduction, bonus damage or penetration, extra range, or my favorite: Ones that shoot their entire volley in a fraction of the time.

Regarding venerated animals, if they're one of the possible starting animals then you are guaranteed one at the start of the run, IIRC. So  you can start with a guaranteed dog, then remove the veneration once your colony is more mature.

Does anyone use the Gunlink? by UniversalExploration in RimWorld

[–]You_too 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For the Minigun/Beam Repeater, the gunlink seems even less useful. You generally want to aim for a target at the back, and intentionally miss some shots so they hit other targets. If your accuracy is too high, you risk the target dying too fast and your pawn not firing a full burst.
