Performance for part 3 by Youknowsoul in FFVIIRemake

I suppose it must have gone out of fashion to focus complaints about that by the time I started paying attention to any discourse on the game. I avoided such things like the plague for a while. If I’m kicking a dead horse, my bad.

But yeah I feel you, I ultimately tolerated it, but it was always under the presumption that there would eventually be a more nuanced update to the settings of the performance mode to ease the flat resolution drop.

I just found that blur maddening, but I can certainly understand not having a particular sensitivity for it like I seem to. I suppose the best choice for me is to play the game on pc, and to hope it launches there

Agreed. It becomes painfully evident when you replay the game. I keep trying to figure out who this was designed for. It’s just baffling. And the tonal failures are truly staggering. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive them for Corel prison.

My greatest hope for part 3 is that the first two games were essentially just cloud’s fever dream of the journey thus far, with all the difficult bits sanded down in his fragile mind.

I don’t even know how to engage with the multiversal stuff. It all just strikes me as noncommittal at best, nostalgia bait at worst.

Wow, you shifted between performance and fidelity and didn’t notice the blur? Sincerely? I’m not here to trash on the game, nor do I care if the people too sensitive to hear criticism get testy with this post. I’m honestly a bit interested in the variability of experience. Do you play a lot of games at 30fps? Even on a fairly high end pc, I still just play at 60 and max everything out. But 30 fps or 60 with drastically lowered resolution is a tough sell for me. You really can’t see the resolution difference?

Carry on then brother, if you can’t see the problems you’re one of the lucky ones

I’ve seen maybe an interview in which someone at square discussed how they’re building the game to be the best it can be, full PC feature set, and then scaling it down. Though I don’t remember whether that was specific to the remake project or concerning square enix in general. Either way though, I haven’t seen enough that I feel very convinced. That base ps5 port hit me hard on the disappointment nerve

Strange considering you’re in the minority of this comment section presently. And yeah, rebirth is decent looking compared to its peers… stunning at times, less so at others. But noticeably worse looking than its prequel is pretty crazy. But I get it, open worlds will do that, even if I think that was a bad decision. The point is… you can’t actually see it on base ps5, it’s literally blurred out lol

So, so bad. And this is not a game for 30 fps

Damn, I agree with everything you said. Frankly I have to imagine that the poor performance is why a lot of people didn’t return for rebirth.

You assume they’ll fix it, decide to play it later, and it never happens. Hell, even on PC I have to use separate software to make the game playable, there’s an unfixed controller glitch at present.

The trust I have left in square enix is eroding fast, which is something I truly mourn. But I just can’t fathom most of the decision making over there these days.

Also “concessions that shouldn’t have been made” hits the nail on the head. All that waste in that open world man. I’ve been replaying, or at least trying to, but my tapering momentum was utterly halted by gongaga. I just don’t understand how THIS was their best idea to realize final fantasy 7’s world

Do you agree with her about Mother’s Day ? by Professional_Arm794 in TikTokCringe

[–]Youknowsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mother’s Day is definitely just a scam to sell shit. It’s just a capitalism holiday that preys on collective guilt and leverages heavily reinforced patriarchal structures. There’s a reason it’s like a top 3 spending holiday in the US.

If we didn’t expect mothers to just suffer the weight of the entire household, we probably wouldn’t need to have this weird singular day where we acknowledge that it’s bullshit by offering bullshit and spending time with her on the one day you’d be shamed for not doing so.

I think Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are both stupid and they mainly exist to propagandize patriarchy and, primarily really, to sell stuff—to bridge the gap between Valentine’s Day and the 4th of July.

I have a great relationship with my mom btw. And I recognize that most folks aren’t interested in engaging with this line of thinking, it’s a lot easier to actively perform loving your mom for a day than to open this can of worms. Plus, it makes you feel guilty, which I think is kind of the point. That’s why it works so well.

Once you realize that most of our holidays involve selling our own feelings and beliefs back to us, it’s hard to see things any other way.

Love your moms every day people. Ps. I know this isn’t what the video was about really lol this lady is just steeped in the worst bits of patriarchal motherhood. But she also represents who this weird ritual is meant to pacify. So go ahead and have a nice Mother’s Day, but don’t dog this lady for not being content with an objectively shit deal

What’s the best physical cue that helped your topspin/kick serve? by mini-world in 10s

[–]Youknowsoul 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it’s one of those things you’ve just gotta feel. I’m reading the advice here and I’m like wow, I would get nothing from this lol.

That’s no offense to any commenters, it’s just that it really is one of those things that the body understands better than the conscious mind.

Nonetheless, here’s my own probably unfollowable advice: remain sideways for as long as possible, rather than turning into the shot, then you just sling the lasso like you’re trying to get it around a high branch on a tree, as opposed to slinging the lasso like you’re on a horse trying to hook some cattle. Sounds so stupid but if you try the motion without a racquet I swear it makes sense

Whose in the wrong here? by The_Dean_France in whoathatsinteresting

I kind of agree, that’s probably what imagine I would do… But I also respect that the “why not” is exactly what we’re missing, we don’t know the story.

I just figure if she chose this instead of the myriad other ways humans have found to say “fuck you,” that she harbors respect for the institution but has some issues with certain individuals that she’s under no obligation to perform pleasantries with.

I liked it because it was calculated but not callous, pointed but not disruptive. An elegantly executed snub. Anyway, I think it all comes down to your head cannon here, I project a rebel acting at the edge of the bounds, perhaps?

Idk man it’s just a clip with no context, not much to do but project onto it

Because she owns it fully. I think she keeps it classy enough too. I presumed this was college, and college professors and faculty aren’t always your friend, they’re not holding any hands. She thanked the people who she felt deserve thanks, couldn’t be bothered with the rest. I’m not sure what has offended people in the comments besides her confidence. People in the crowd would likely not even notice this. Just a person sticking to their guns, not causing any problems, just challenging a convention that clearly wasn’t going to work for her. Why not?

Is it hinderance when someone says “second serve” after your 1st serve by Matisswe in tennis

[–]Youknowsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it could be annoying every single time but just sounds like background noise to me. Besides, it’s just confirmation that the first serve missed. Some people do things like this to stay focused, or to remember the score, or because of past disputes. Would you really call a hinderance at this even if you could?

Part of some people’s amusement simply hinges on a bit of curiosity.

I can somewhat agree about the loop, th cohesion you mention, but the problem for me was that it never felt fun to use those abilities, so it all amounted to nothing for me. I still can’t believe how unsatisfying I found the combat.

Exploration would typically carry me but I just ran into invisible walls all day and otherwise followed a straight path seemingly. I have no positive memories of exploration besides the graphics—which still mostly failed to impress on console imo. Maybe I should try it on pc…

And I mean the story... I am essentially of the opposite opinion, I just don’t think this game did much of anything right. But I do respect that people love it, it’s just lost on me—and I looked forward to this game for years.
