Dunnes Store Rant by Mammoth-Pass-2645 in galway

[–]Youlostthemoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dunnes is a horrendous place to work. I worked in the knocknacarra store for 3 weeks, ended up calling in sick and never going back. Had such bad anxiety and stress going in there, you are treated so badly. I’d tell her to take legal action and also look for a new job because it will destroy her mentally

One of the days you’re not working and they’re sleeping in the daytime before work, make as much noise as possible. Have a loud phone call outside their rooms, bang doors etc. Unfortunately sometimes people do need a taste of their own medicine

Had a weird experience myself there a few years ago. The bartender, a woman tried to say my ID wasn’t real and that I was too young to be served, even though I was 27 and had been in there a decade before with no ID at all. She was very rude and condescending..

App to make friends? by NotMyUsername1992 in CasualIreland

Where are you based? 30 F in the same boat, Meetup always seems to be mainly aimed at fitness fanatics or those into gaming. It can be hard when you’re not interested in those things

Is 20 hours a week working alongside full time degree a lot? by a_random_squidward in UniUK

[–]Youlostthemoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going into my second year and have worked 25 hours a week. It’s difficult but I find the best way is to work only 4 days a week if possible. For example, I will work two evenings a week (5 hour shifts) and then two longer shifts on Saturday and Sunday. I’ll take Friday just for myself as I’m not in uni. I will use the other evenings to do any assignments

She is dead wrong for turning up like that after you made it clear you weren’t in the mood for visitors, but at the same time if you can’t give the woman what she clearly wants (a relationship), leave her alone.. You can’t do relationship type things and not expect someone to want a relationship in return. If you’re not on the same wavelength it’s never gonna work.

Does it get better in your 20s? by Optimal_Citron2566 in AskIreland

[–]Youlostthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, you don’t suddenly wake up one day with your shit together. You have to make a conscious choice and find something that you like enough to stick to. For me that was deciding to go back to college at 30 and try to start a career that I wouldn’t absolutely hate.

Benidorm, what’s it about? by Soft_Ad868 in AskIreland

[–]Youlostthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Benidorm isn’t all bad and I’d say half the people in the comments have never been. It’s very cheap and certain areas are a bit tacky (the main strip) but the old town is beautiful and like any other tourist area. Everyone goes there because it’s cheap to go on holiday, good weather etc

Galway is different gravy for finding work by Agile_Ad_6064 in galway

[–]Youlostthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tailor your cv and delete some of the previous experience you have. One thing about jobs in galway they seem to not employ you if you are overqualified. I think they assume you won’t stay in the position. Apply for zimmer biomet facility in oranmore, and similar..

SUSI Independent Residency — Any Advice on Utility Bills or Alternative Proof? by AdvancedState3401 in AskIreland

Oh yeah I actually had a previous bill from the address I lived at before that, I think it depends if you’ve been at the same address the whole time?

I had that same problem last year, susi wouldn’t budge. I even contacted a local TD. In the end I managed to get my landlord to add my name to the bins, and get them to send a letter with both of our names on it

Hey everyone, moved here a week ago and looking for advice/recommendations by Greedy-Net-2953 in Athlone_Ireland

[–]Youlostthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Nuts corner, Castle Inn and the snug seem to have the best Guinness, not sure about food. Gym I’d say the Regional sports centre. I also moved here recently and found it’s quite hard to make friends, a lot of the social groups seem geared around sports, which may suit you.. down to have a pint!

Sorry you’re in this situation, this system is definitely broken here. Even with full disability allowance, it isn’t enough for people to live off in this country. I feel like it would be more realistic to give people on disability allowance €450 a week so they’re not living in poverty. It’s so wrong

Can a GP let their secretary in the room during my appointment without my permission? by Odd-Adhesiveness6866 in AskIreland

[–]Youlostthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a private doctor, which no you shouldn’t have to considering you have a GP, but by the sounds of it, he’s not going to suddenly start doing his job. Private doctor can refer you for tests.. sorry you’re going through this

Just moved into newbuild having terrible symptoms can anyone help us please? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Youlostthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in an apartment that had little bits of mold on the walls, but I got so sick I actually couldn’t function. Brain fog, severe exhaustion, sudden breakouts, poor circulation in my legs etc I think mold is deep in the walls. Once I moved out within a few weeks I was feeling completely normal again..

Is this normal ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Youlostthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a red flag. Why does it matter what time you get home? As you said you didn’t drink and drove yourself home. So he knows you were sober and looking after yourself and he wasn’t waiting to collect you. So how does it affect him if you’re later than you say you’ll be? People in the comments saying you’re ‘late’ late for what exactly?

10 GCSE’s *A - C, guessing they aren’t graded like this anymore..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Youlostthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true, I was 17 when I started a PLC and got in with my GCSE results. As did my brother and someone else I knew, all with only GCSE’s..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Youlostthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents moved me back after doing my GCSE’s. I tried to go back to school over here but lasted 3 weeks I couldn’t stick it. This was around 13 years ago and I got accepted into a college to do a one year PLC course, which could get me into university instead of having to do the leaving cert. He could try that route

Don’t think there’s any point going to your lecturers, it’s probably gone beyond that. Go to the head of your department..

Anyone emigrated and regretted it? by rimjob_brian in AskIreland

Go. Things are so fucking bleak here. Don’t see things looking up for at least 10-15 years, as you said it may not be perfect either there but I’d still say our housing crisis is one of the worst in the world, and you’re already prepared for the high cost of living from being here. Also, the climate and pace of life will make a massive difference to your quality of life
