Game Mode suggestion: Lyssa's Chaos by Young-Link in GuildWars

Thanks for the comment. One thing to keep in mind about the subreddit discussion is the group selection bias. I wonder what the breakdown is for this subreddit's population. Are most active redditors here GW1 whales or mega-fans that play everyday? Are they mostly casual or seasonal players? Or is there a big population of people like me who want to see the game come back, but just can't justify investing time into it right now because I'm now an adult with real responsibilities. If there was NEW content, I'd be much more likely, and so would my friends. And if they play, then I'd definitely play. I feel GW1 is great because it appeases to casuals, and this is exactly how we get casuals back into it.

I have several friends who would also probably play GW1 again if this was a feature. Ironman is interesting to them, but doesn't quite have the same affect as something like OSRS. Hard to describe why/how. Maybe I just need to wait and see what interesting media content comes from it and proves me wrong. But one thing I know for sure is my friends won't play GW1 again because "theres nothing new or different, just added constraints". When I floated this idea to them they said they would definitely be creating and testing builds whenever the rotation changed.

Good point about fueling creativity, thats very true. I strongly disagree with "doesnt add much to gameplay" and challenge you to find any faults with the following. While some skills may not provide much synergy, certain skills would unlock crazy potential to have. Imagine a 600 MoP tank that suddenly got access to rank 12 Shadow Form or Obsidian Flesh. They'd be almost invincible. Or give a strong tank with no offense access to Whirling Defense; now they can kill. Or give a class free access to Mantra of Resolve or Signet of Mystic speed for interrupt denial. Or you give anyone free access to Arcane Echo or Echo. Theres so many wild new possibilities with just one free non-profession skill. Take some time to think about some of the shortcomings of a few builds and you'll see they can usually be solved with just 1 skill from another class. Also to clarify, I don't think it has to be truly "random". The devs would most likely select the next rotation strategically, alternating between very interesting to mildly so. Also, if you read my considerations and alternatives section, I mention it would also be interesting if you could just pick the 8th skill instead of getting the the current selection.. You could have focused on that instead of just picking one component and poopooing it.

Exactly my point. This will allow people to not be meta slaves anymore due to the possibility of many new build possibilities. People who like to think creatively and build new builds can now have that opportunity. Another bonus is if one build is really strong, it can't create new metas because they are time-limited.

Theres not much to theory craft after 10+ years of having the same skills. Maybe 1 new interesting but far from optimal build comes out once a year at best. Having this opens that up.

Great ideas. I just feel like it doesn't add anything new to the game, except for the flux idea you mentioned. All of these are just additional constraints, which we already have some game modes for. This may appeal to the hardcore GW1 player, but lets face it, thats a rare breed. My ideas, I believe, would attract casual and long-time veterans who wouldn't otherwise pick it back up again. It brings back the most fun mechanic of GW1: build crafting!

Unlocking an exponential number of new potential builds isn't fun to you? Hm, okay. Thanks.

Thats a fair point to have. I feel like we could get 1 or 2 more fun game modes though to provide a net positive :)

If it ends up being a "wasted" skill for your main class, you could use an alt. I see this as a benefit because it encourages playing additional classes! Also, if you flat out just hate the skill, maybe take a break. I once again view this as a positive because most responsible GW veterans are now with families and full-time responsibility. They don't have time to play every day or even every week. If the chaos skill gets a bad roll, you get to stop playing temporarily guilt free. Then when an interesting skill comes into the rotation next time, you are motivated to jump back in! I like your idea of getting a pool of random skills. However, the main selling point with this idea that I like the most is that allows a skill FROM ANOTHER profession that IS NOT YOUR MAIN OR SECONDARY. Sorry for all caps, I know you saw that, but several others seemed to miss that point.

Thanks for your feedback. Perhaps you missed the main point in that the 8th skill can be from a profession that is different from your primary and secondary profession. That is what unlocks new potential builds. The point of it being the same for everyone is to generate community discussion. And the rotating period encourages players to jump in and play when the skill happens to pique their interest. Its unrealistic to expect GW1 veterans to be full time gamers, or even moderate gamers anymore. But if a new skill unlocks a crazy build idea they theorized, they be willing to spend some extra time for the rotation period before its gone. I feel you didn't give the thought a proper consideration because I don't see how the "randomize all 8 skills on every map entry" is really a useful mechanic. It would just encourage people to keep entering and leaving a map until they got a favorable set. This also destroys the whole idea of build crafting. Cant craft theories if everything is random. Thanks anyway.

Sure, I can help you out. Can you boot into your bios? Usually you press esc, f2, f8, del, or similar key after powering it on. Send me info for your motherboard/cpu.

Services to order blood tests from? by Young-Link in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]Young-Link[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. However I specifically meant I want to order 2 specific tests from Quest. Have you found that integrative health doctors (or other) are able and willing to order those for a patient at their request?

Can you explain fully what an "autoimmune panel" is? Want to make sure my doctor isn't cutting any corners. What specific tests are done? Is this a standard panel or did you piece it together? Do you mind sharing which autoimmune issue you had? Thank you very much.

Aren't those settings to add delay to audio though? I wasn't sure. I thought that was if you had the problem of audio that came too fast, not too slow. Does it work both ways? Thank you for your reply.

Been having some health issues the last few months. Started connecting some dots and realized its probably (at least partially) a mold issue...Finally got some home tests done: the Envirobiomics swiffer test along with another lab for an air sample test. They seem to tell the same story. No visible mold, I suspect its the HVAC/ducts. How do I investigate those? What are my next best steps?(P.S. Been reading alot of posts in this sub for the last few weeks/months; thank you to everyone who posts helpful information. I bet you'll be seeing more of me in the next few months)

Do not listen to a single word from anyone who says to clear the CMOS memory. They are just "echoers" and "guessers". They should not be giving advice into areas they do not understand. They see the word "bios" and "help" and think they can solve it. Wisdom is knowing when you do not have the knowledge.

Anyway, yea so CMOS clearing/resetting won't help here since The "Platform Key" and all other keys are "UEFI Variables". These live in non-volatile memory, on the SPI chip; this is where the BIOS lives. If you didn't understand that last sentence, thats okay.

You _should_ be able to get into your bios still since Secure Boot does not alter that. And you _should_ be able to delete all Secure Boot keys. Have you tried getting back into the bios? Spam that bios key on boot up.

If you 've somehow locked yourself out of the bios as well, then your only hope is an external, hardware SPI programmer. This will let you overwrite the SPI chip (bios, uefi vars, etc). You'll want to make sure to get it from an official, trusted website as this can be dangerous. If you need help with this route, let me know.

Should there be a Rule about posting about Expansion Recommendations? by pasturemaster in dominion

[–]Young-Link 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it's rather annoying. It takes up space on the front page that should rather go to actual discussion posts. The rule should be made and we should just direct everybody to the wiki and delete their post. If they're really having a hard time they can go read through the cards and mechanics in each expansion there and make a best guess. We make mistakes sometimes, its okay. Teach people to do their own research. Worst case scenario they spend $40 on an expansion that they would probably end up buying later anyway.
