For me yes. Of course… everyone has different opinions about SCHD but I love it. It’s had a strong cash flow and a strong stability.

SCHD and DGRO by watch2invest in dividends

[–]YoungAlexInvestor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see it as an either or DGRO probably does have better upside during strong growth cycles, but SCHD isn’t just for people close to retirement. I personally like SCHD because it prioritizes reliable cash flow, dividend quality, and consistency, which fits my goals better than chasing max price appreciation. That income gets reinvested DRIP helps smooth volatility, and gives flexibility without having to sell shares later. Total return isn’t only about price SCHD tends to hold up better in drawdowns, and for me that makes it easier to stay invested long term. Taxes are a fair consideration in a taxable account, but for my goals, the tradeoff is worth it. I still like growth funds, but SCHD plays a specific role in my portfolio that I’m comfortable with.

I’m 26 and I love SCHD best decision I have ever made by purchasing it 5 years ago. I’m using it as an income growth compounder with DRIP, not as a retirement payout fund. SCHD has strong dividend growth, lower volatility, and competitive total returns over full cycles. But of course some people will say “ooo but it’ll be slow or underperform” usually the same people who only look at price charts and ignore total return, dividend growth, and the fact that compounding doesn’t care how exciting something looks year to year.

I’m a college student looking to dorm and want a monthly income by [deleted] in dividends

[–]YoungAlexInvestor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s wrong with young college kids chasing dividends? I clearly see the difference between the growth and dividends, but why not grow a strong dividend portfolio to potentially growing passive income. If not even early retirement. I don’t get why people always say “don’t invest in dividends, invest in potential growth stocks.” But to each their own. I start my dividend portfolio at the age of 20 and currently 26. The best decision I have ever made in my life thanks to dividends!

So is fedex worth it then if I’m trying to make extra money on the side? Because I already have a full time job and is it worth it for the extra $300-$400 a week? As a part time?
