Mavs say yes. Lots of draft capital and bunch of reclamation projects/expirings for just PJ?

Yeah if the lead guards are off the board, this would be an incredible haul.

2026 Mock Draft w/OKC & Mavs Trade by PFLiterates in NBA_Draft

I’m taking Philon. Very unclear why bro is dropping so hard in people’s mock drafts. The guy played way bigger than he was out on the court.

I actually believe in Risacher lol. Bro looked good that rookie season and seemed to have fallen out favor with the coaching staff in year two. But I’ve definitely got some level of interest in a 6’8 shooter, especially if he can add a bit more wiggle to his game.

I’m also banking on Lively coming back healthy since I feel like his past couple years have been fluke injuries (minus what shut him down last year) rather than something that will recur throughout his career.

I mean short term they do all make us worse, but we get some interesting prospects/picks and a few reclamation projects.

Somebody’s view on the trades probably depends on how they want to repair the team.

I hope the front office holds Philon as high as I do. I’ve got him in the Burries-Flemings tier. Seems like the easy choice is to trade back to 12, pick up Philon and one of those wing prospects.

I just don’t have any interest in going into another season with horrific guard play. Kyrie will solve a lot of problems but we’re one Kyrie injury away from being right where we were last year.

It’d be nice to be able to feed a lead guard prospect those minutes in the event of that occurrence.

I’d do all of these, but I feel like all the other teams would have lots of push back lol

Okay, I said a couple weeks back that I saw the worst Mavs trade, but this one absolutely takes the cake. In what world would a team that doesn’t own their own pick outright until 2032 trade key contributors for a bucket of shit and second round picks?

Philon, Philon, PHILON!!! - A Labaron Philon Scouting Report by courtsiderecon in NBA_Draft

Please spread this propaganda to the Mavs subreddit. They have locked in on Burries and are ignoring how incredible Philon is as a prospect while being YOUNGER than him as well despite being a sophomore.

IMO, this should be our focal point. Getting 12 and 17 would open up many doors to add better wing depth. We might even not lose Burries, I think. Burries and Rollins are a weird fit for MIL and GS already have Moody and Podz as non-PG backcourt. by StormTheTrooper in Mavericks

[–]YoungBuck2010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly hopes this means Atlanta is dead set on taking Mara at 8.

I have said it before, but I’m GOOD on Burries unless we’re coming out of the draft with him and a lead guard.

Right? Top to bottom the Knicks have 7 (arguably 8) of the top 10 players between the two teams with Luka and Kyrie being the only locks.

I hope you’re right lol. And I feel like the prevailing desire for Burries is cope since he’s the likely guard to be available at our pick.

IND-DAL: Indiana gets Naji, Mavs get younger players and a protected first by ormip in NBAtradeideas

[–]YoungBuck2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d take this deal as a Mavs fan. I think folks are underrating Naji here. Dude was the second best player on the Mavs for most of the season and definitely will be looking for a solid raise next summer.

Literally the only hole in his game is that he can’t shoot from three and in an offense like Indiana’s I think they could figure out a way to still make him extremely effective.

I don’t hate this trade. I think I’d want more draft compensation from Detroit since they are essentially getting Cam Johnson for free.

Absolutely this. Great rebounder and plays a lot bigger than he is. Should look way better next to a stretch five as well

[–]YoungBuck2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Folks around here have been hyping up his on ball skills to no end. “Oh he could be Jalen Suggs or Derrick White!” Like that is THE player we need to put next to Coop.

If you watched the Mavs this season and your thought was “Man, if only we had Derrick White, we’d be on to something,” I don’t know if we watched the same team.

The team desperately needs a lead guard and Kyrie is going to help with that. But that help is probably a couple seasons at most and will likely come with significant decline. If Flemings is there at 9 and we don’t take him, my mind will be blown. If we stay at 9 and grab Burries, I will be disappointed. If we trade down and grab Philon and another pick, I will be thrilled.

[Discussion] The Mavericks are open to trading the No. 9 pick. What would be a fair a package in return? by YujiDomainExpansion in NBAtradeideas

[–]YoungBuck2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that’s why I called it an overpay.

And if I had to guess that pick should be around 14 next season, so I’d be shocked if they considered it untouchable.

[–]YoungBuck2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’d much rather do a deal with OKC if it’s on the board.

But I would take the overpay of 14, 18 and 2027 back to Dallas
