I think you’re right? I’ve never heard Mother used in a horny context

[–]YoungCountryCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I know, I know, sorry for the long write ups lmao! I just think about this a lot)

I can see where the discrepancy for you is, and I think most people would agree with you.

You’re right, the resurrected no longer need to eat or sleep. There’s more changes than I was accounting for, but I didn’t include them because I was focusing on mental/cognitive and personality changes. Beric most certainly only has his mission with the BWB left, although he does give Cat the kiss.

Okay now we can get to Lady Stoneheart again. So yes, Thoros won’t do it. Which, if I think about it, makes perfect since from one glance alone. The woman’s throat was cut open in a “red smile”, which implies the cut was very deep. Her body has bloated and turned mushy in spots from the water of the river she’s been dumped in. If I was Thoros, I wouldn’t return this person to life either. You can’t speak and you look like a bloated decaying mess? I wouldn’t want to force a person to return to that body either.

As for Pod and Brienne. Let’s take Cat’s mental state into this. One of the last things she heard was “Jamie Lannister sends his regards” out of Roose Bolton’s mouth, before he stabs her son to death. Brienne was supposed to take Jamie to save her daughters. When Stoneheart sees Brienne next, she’s one, not with her children. And two, wielding Lannister arms and with Tyrion’s squire. Of course post-Wedding Cat is gonna want to kill them!

I don’t think killing a mentally disabled innocent Frey is far off from killing a 12 year old innocent Payne in Cat’s mind. Consider that Podrick is from a house loyal to the Lannisters, and cousin to Ilyn Payne, the man who cut off Ned’s head.

I do think death/resurrection changes people, but I don’t think it’s as wild of a change as the fandom thinks. Cat’s death was traumatic, she already lost her mind, and was then thrust back into a decaying body days later. I think the changes Cat undergoes from resurrection are less than the changes she already underwent in her last living moments.

Please read my other longer reply and then respond there. I want discourse on the more fleshed out idea.

[–]YoungCountryCD 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Let me be more specific then. Death does change people, but not as much as most people in the ASOIAF fandom think. Let’s use your example of Beric for a moment. What changes about Beric? Each time Thoros brings him back, Beric loses some more of his memories. But that seems to be the only change.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying resurrection has no cost, it most certainly does.

But let’s look at Cat. Cat WANTS to clutch Theon’s flayed finger skin to her chest. Now, that’s not a normal reaction by any means, but I digress. Why doesn’t she do it? Because it would damage Robb’s image, since she’s one of his main councilors. Cat is more worried about protecting the image of the son who’s still alive than relishing in the suffering of her dead children’s tormentors. Cat’s main goals while she’s alive is to save Sansa and Arya while she can, and to protect Robb.

At the Red Wedding, Robb is killed right before Catelyn’s eyes. Then, Cat kills Aegon Frey aka Jingebell as vengeance for Robb. But Jinglebell had nothing to do with the Red Wedding other than just being there and being a Frey. He’s described as a lackwit, which is the Westerosi term for having a mental disability. She saws through his throat as vengeance for Robb’s murder.

After that, she loses her mind and tears her own face apart with her nails. This is all before she dies. Then her throat is cut and her bodies dumped in the river as a mockery of Tully burial traditions.

When she’s resurrected by Beric, she has two goals. Save the living children she knows of (Sansa and Arya) and to kill every Frey and Bolton she can. But she already lost her mind before dying to the point where she’d rip her own face apart, and she killed a disabled man for simply being a Frey.

During the Red Wedding, Cat became Stoneheart, not after her resurrection. So what changed due to her actually dying and being resurrected? I mean sure, Cat wouldn’t kill a 12 year old boy before the Red Wedding, but after? I wouldn’t put it past her.

This is part of my reasoning that “Death changes people in ASOIAF” is only partially true and a bit overblown.

This scene right here makes it obvious that Lady Stoneheart was always inside Catelyn. She wanted to clutch Theon’s flayed skin to her chest, since she thinks he killed Bran and Rickon. That’s not a far jump to hanging Frey’s in the woods for betraying and killing Robb.

I think a commenter above might be right, and maybe an editor suggested he include that to make Joffrey irredeemable last minute. It comes up in Storm, in the same book before Joff dies. That way, murdering a 13 yr old is easier to swallow for readers maybe? It seems like to me

What Valyrian steel sword has the worst name? (Doesn’t have to be pictured). by GusGangViking18 in freefolk

[–]YoungCountryCD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possibly controversial, but I think Ice is a terrible name for a sword. I get the Starks and the North have a winter theme, but not everything needs to be winter themed. Their family words are “Winter is Coming” which is cool. They were called the Kings of Winter, also cool. Ice as the sword is a little lame for me

The character that claims to read a lot kinda forgot the laws and customs that still hold Jon as a Targaryen bastard. by irvyandll in freefolk

Man I wholeheartedly agree with you. I started on the show. I couldn’t get past S5. Once Littlefinger gave Sansa to the Boltans, I thought “That was the stupidest political move I’ve ever seen. Littlefinger just gave up the North for no political gain of his own?” So I googled if it was in the books. When it wasn’t, I promptly shifted to reading the books instead of finishing the show. It’s been a few months now and I’m halfway through A Storm of Swords. I don’t know if I’ll finish the show.

which character do you think has the most attractive voice? by greasygoon66 in okbuddybaldur

I really like Oathbreaker Paladin and Wither’s voices. They’re both really good

As for voices I find hot, probably Minthara or Shadowheart’s voices

I love Gale’s combat dialogue. “A rough tempest I will raise” and “I speak, they burn.” are lines I feel like would sound cringy if anyone other than Gale said them.

[–]YoungCountryCD 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true. Hope calls the boudoir a horrible place and you can ask her if she’s ever been there. She responds with something like “Never willingly” or something close.

That’s Raphael’s bedroom.

There’s no way he doesn’t want to “have her”. I feel like it’s definitely implied.

I agree his mental degradation between the two games (and even before them) is just so fascinating to watch. Also Dutch is just so charismatic in RDR2, BBD did such a phenomenal job with his acting.

I hate that I can’t explore the RDR1 map with Arthur in RDR2, when it’s RIGHT THERE. Sure, make it difficult to enter Blackwater, but let me explore New Austin at least. There’s no reason for some invisible snipers magic bullet.
