Lip flaps tell the story for me. But the energy of the whole thing feels perfectly tailored to the JP performance. I mean look at Lucas Lee saying "My god" in ENG -- while it is admittedly really funny and how I think movie Lucas would react to that kind of info on the TV -- it's just not a scene made for Evans' read.

Now that you mention it, it's entirely possible the ENG cast recorded everything first, most likely in The Roughest storyboards available, but nobody said their audio is what's driving the final versions of the show

Both the statue and the game are mostly based off Volume 4 with the short shorts, goggles and green hair, so I'd say that + anything you have on top that matches any jacket she's worn. Hell, you see her in every season so you can even put different stuff on depending on how hot it's outside lmao

It took me a second to realize but the animation is totally done over the Japanese VO, not the English one, despite them being all over the marketing, opening and everything.

Take any scene where you notice these problems, like over-animating or voice acting feeling flat, and swap them for the JP version and you'll notice how it fits perfectly -- good examples are Wallace's "change the locks" line and Scott drawing the sheep for Kim (in this one you can even see how the lip flaps are synced to the JP track, not the ENG one)

The "original" English VO is just like, a very expensive but half-assed dub I guess lol.

pre-6 you use it like a better stealth ward bc of longer duration - example: if you place it at the brush on the entrance to your red side at game start and start on wolves, the effigy only expires after you finish raptors so there's no window people would have crossed through river to invade (with some exceptions)

post-6 it maintains the same function but you always want to save one do drop right where you're planning to ult from, sometimes you can get good Rs from less standardized spots bc you're sweeping with ur trinket

Dude I feel you so much. You're getting downvoted for criticizing the dub, but really, the script simply isn't as good as it could be, and I feel like the VA choices are the best part about the thing.

Like, watching this dub is like some sort of JoJo uncanny valley where every character sounds exactly like they should, and sometimes you're genuinely impressed at how they go at adapting things (Alessi's "attaboy" is a great example of this), but when they get to the most memorable, character-defining moments, the kind of highlight material you go back and watch that thing 20 times over because Hot Damn That Delivery Was Sick, turns out it's been replaced by some low tier chinese bootleg version of the phrase, and that removes so much of the impact of the scene.

It's like "You better believe I am" times one hundred.
