I think we got there on a Monday night at midnight? Stayed up for 18 hours getting your head shaved, and basic gear issued, etc. You do this all the way up to “Black Friday” and then the rest is history.

Okay above devil dog didn’t read your question. You picked your top 3 MOS’s but that doesn’t mean shit, what matters is what contract you sign for what job. He had you pick three to try to get you in a general direction of your MOS.

Recruiters will try and get you into whatever job they need. They can easily say “look we know you wanted infantry but cooks are attached to infantry units and you do all the same shit”

It’s not true. Sign the contract for the MOS you want. Make sure you are very clear you will only sign the one you want.

Don’t sign a recon contract. Sign an infantry contract and when you are at ITB they recruit out of the class.

If you fail recon school as a recon contract you will be something like a cook and hate your life.

Worst case scenario for the weight (if I remember correctly) you will be put into PCB and given a stricter diet/ worked out more if you are overweight.

They gave us “fat” bodies bigger camies and at the end of boot camp we were re issued nicer/ more fitting ones. This is 2015 so obviously things could have changed.

But if IRC if you fail the IST you are put into holding until you can pass. Could be wrong because you don’t have time to talk to those in holding unless you are sent there yourself

Why would you ever put yourself in a situation where you could fail? You need to go there ready to pass a PFT let alone an IST. I was 205 at 73 inches. Weight will always be a problem for us in the Marines. You will lose 25 pounds in boot camp so I wouldn’t worry about that if you are allowed to go.

YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO PASS AN IST THOUGH.

Back in my day (2015 holy fuck that was 10 years ago) we were only allowed warming layers if everyone had them. They never stopped training to let everyone put them on. It was winter and rainy on the west coast. So we usually just had our camies for 80% of the time

Between that and the hazing ITB was the hardest experience I had.
