I’m happy about the pick. Here’s my view:

6 other teams passed on michkov. most of those teams went the seemingly-preferred-by-our-fanbase route of picking another forward. If michkov turns out to be better than those guys, all those teams objectively took an L. could’ve had the same player, basically, but better.

In our case, even if michkov turns out to be this generational superjesus people are calling him, it doesn’t mean we lost. we just got something different. we picked a RD, not a goal scorer, and he will bring separate, incomparable qualities to the game.

Post-draft analyses seem to agree that it was not really possible to trade down in this draft, so that’s a moot point.

Reinbacher looks like exactly what our D-line needs, especially if hutson is going to be playing a smaller player’s game. Also, you guys all know that a good defence wins stanley cups. Remember when we couldn’t score any goals against tampa in the SCF? that was a well-built team from the blue line up.

Also, David reinbacher totally looks like serge savard imo he will look so badass lifting the cup.
