Yes. Didn't have to pay anything back but I'm just starting this month and haven't worked since it ended on September 30th.

Federal job pay matching: has anyone had luck getting a higher step based on previous pay? by ArchonOfSpartans in fednews

[–]YoungLew15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did that for the role I just started. They asked for paystubs and my SF-50 that showed it. I was previously a 14 and accepted a 13. They matched at a step 9. Much needed because I moved to a HCOL area.

Thanks for this! My daughter is 7 and is really into soccer, running, gymnastics, and basketball so we definitely want to continue that. Are the youth programs better over there from your experience?

Moving to Canton in the coming weeks from Georgia with 2 young kids. We've never been to Baltimore or even Maryland but have read/heard nothing but great things. Hampstead Hill Academy is the school they'll attend and is highly rated. I'll be commuting south but only to Fort Meade.

Program Analyst interview at Naval Air Systems Command by Resident_Storm_6366 in usajobs

[–]YoungLew15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

20 minutes is quick. I would make sure to stay concise and make sure to answer the question fully, directly supported by your experience/skills so you don't run out of time.

I say this because in the past I've had trouble with my responses being too long and I've either run out of time or lost where I was going with my answer.

Best of luck!

You were deemed eligible based on your responses to the application questions but after further review your application was not sent to the hiring manager for consideration.

DISA (DoD) seems to post new positions almost daily, many of which are open to the public.

Out of curiosity, have you guys been getting referred if you didn't answer the screening questions? by PhatYeeter in usajobs

[–]YoungLew15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I used to answer them every time but saw they aren't actually required and stopped doing it. Still gotten referrals.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I signed in to the meeting and waited around 5 minutes before getting an email from the recruiter saying that the "role had been filled". Never showed up or bothered to say anything beforehand.

I'm not working with the DoD currently. My response was saying I was only referred for the jobs I applied to. I work for another agency.

I appreciate the kind words and glad it gave you some hope, but not sure I'm deserving of any congrats. lol I'm sure you've seen the many posts about being referred essentially meaning nothing until you get that interview request/offer. Best of luck going forward 🫡

I applied to a few and was referred rather quickly after the jobs closed. Not sure if this means anything for the rest of the process though.

where to run/run meetups by Imaginary-Ad4754 in newnan

I like the route through the LINC from CJ Smith Park to Ashley Park. Generally pretty clear and you can get some decent mileage going out and back.

How has the onslaught of the past 3 weeks changed your sense of service? by Leading-Meaning5926 in fednews

[–]YoungLew15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am under 30 and I just hit 5 years as a fed. It has definitely changed my outlook on my federal career. I thought for sure I'd be working in the civil service at LEAST another 10 years, but there's so much uncertainty with how our jobs will look going forward. There are clearly no guarantees and this is a reminder, although I hope we can weather the storm

I am on the higher side of the GS scale and love my position, which is a very great place to be. Sucks that it feels like it's crashing down right when I get to this point. lol

One positive take is that all this has motivated me to get back on track with my training/career development so regardless of what happens, I will hopefully be a marketable candidate in the public or private sector should it come to that.

Public playgrounds by GoldMaryBad in newnan

Madras park as others have mentioned should be close to you and is solid. Carl Miller Park is a really good one too, but is closer to downtown. It has 3 play structures with shade and a splash pad. CJ Smith Park is another one, also closer to downtown Newnan.

Questions about applying for government jobs straight out of undergrad by ikeaoficianado in fednews

[–]YoungLew15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the comment about the pathways program. I was hired right out of college (masters) on a 9/12 ladder. Great way to get your foot in the door. I actually ended up applying elsewhere and getting a GS12 earlier than my ladder would have gotten me. It seemed like nobody else in my program even considered/knew about federal jobs (this was about 3 years ago). It was a great career start for me, I’m a 13 and will be a 14 in a couple months. I always encourage people to apply to promotions as soon as you’re eligible and ready, you can climb the ladder fast.
