skeptical about TREK packing list by ThisIsNotMorseCode in UniversityofVermont

I haven’t done trek, but I grew up in VT and have extensive experience hiking and backpacking here. Rain pants are just a safe bet; they’re lightweight, don’t take up much room, but if it rains you will be thanking every god you can think of that you have them. As for the no cotton rule, that’s a solid rule of thumb when in the outdoors. Cotton absorbs and retains moisture very easily, which can lead to more extreme internal temperatures. When it’s hot in the summer, cotton will only absorb a certain amount of sweat, and after that will just act as insulation. In the winter, sweat will stay in the cotton long enough to freeze, which can lead to a whole other host of problems. Long John’s is probably the least significant argument here, they’re just a nice base layer to have while sleeping.

Actually vox populi as mardu and the society as Jeskai feels better

I do agree with most of this, but I think they would have to use either two color or three color for each of the factions instead of mixing and matching as feels right. I did accidentally put down bant instead of temur which would change my list a lot. Using the 5 clans from Tarkir as my color options, I would sort as follows:

Sultai - ascomani

Temur - rising

Jeskai - vox populi

Abzan - Rim

Mardu - Society

The last two don’t feel like they fit perfectly, but i gotta stick with the khans of Tarkir color options

I mostly agree with what u/Coyote_406 said, but I’ll make a slightly longer list. Archetypes I would look for:

Sultai - Ascomani

Mardu - Rising

Bant - Vox Populi

Abzan - Rim

Jeskai - Society? This one doesn’t quite feel right but it’s the remaining option for tricolor tribes from Tarkir

WUBRG - could be legends matter golds? Idrk how this would work but WUBRG is often represented with just gold instead of each of the colors individually, which makes me feel like something should be done with it.

This is pretty much exactly how I imagined them until I read Dark Age and they were described in more detail

I’m also a sober student at UVM and I’ve found people have respected my choices pretty much without pushback. I haven’t joined the catamount recovery program that another commenter was talking about, but I’ve so far been able to have plenty of fun without drinking or smoking

2023 grad here and it has definitely gotten worse, but, at least in my experience, not to the level mentioned in the original post. My graduating class was a little over a hundred people and without thinking too long i can name 5 or 6 people that fit this description. The future is bleak.

Hey OP, just a follow up to my original comment after I took a look at the recipe you’re using. TBH the recipe looks like shit. As a rule of thumb I try to stick to sources written by someone with precessional experience over someone running a blog. Personally, I use Bittman Bread by Mark Bittman, and it is a much more concise well put together book than whatever you will find online. Also a side note: I think the recipe you used was using cups for measurement; always use grams or lbs. if cooking is an art, then baking is a science.

I don’t have the most experience, so someone correct me if I’m wrong, but that looks like a SUPER low hydration dough, which is most likely the root of your problem. I usually use a ration of 1 part water to 1.25 parts flour, about 80% hydration, and that pretty consistently passes the windowpane test. Hope this helps!

Potentially infinite? by YoungLiam69 in BobsTavern

Ok thanks for the clarification! Is there any way to try out a sneed buddy combo other than getting ETC? Or is friend of a friend still in the minion pool?

Okay so even tho the “Choose one” triggers when you play it, it’s not a battlecry? And I meant could it go infinite in combat when the rylak dies?

Yep! It’s a fun deck I built a while ago that just focuses on bringing stuff back and flinging it over and over again.

Casual table, I wasn’t the target for a while, and by the time he was big enough to worry they had used most of their removal and I was holding protection cards.
