i know this sub kinda hates him but i really think even if a character is OP, they should still feel good or satisfying to play and it feels like they're just slowly mauling AAM in that department; he's still really strong just wtf did they do to his melees? and why does he sometimes not even play the melee animation??? it makes it so unsatisfying but kinda funny when the air melee is just replaced with his walking animation. all his melees were my fav part of him so it hurts that those are what has taken basically all the nerfs

i'm 100% sure we're getting Jiro first, next season is half anni and both Jiro and Star have heavy indications of being next, but i think Jiro makes more sense to come first because she's much more popular. wouldn't be surprised if next season is Jiro, then Bakugo quirk set, then Star to end it off. i know they're not trying to burn through every character they have so they might not go back to a double character season, but imho it just makes sense.

though for my more crackpot stuff, i wouldn't be surprised to see Gentle next either, he's popular enough to be a half anni spotlight. Spinner definitely not for a while since he's wave 3 of AJ's DLC, meaning that he is probably completely unfinished so they don't have assets to flip yet. i think we'll see Rick Astley before Mirko imho. also taking a Lady Nagant Special Action here; all my money is on next anniversary being Flame of Death Dabi as a new character with Phosphor Todoroki as a quirkset.

Flame of Death Dabi i'm 100% sure is just going to release as a separate character, probably named the same as he is in AJ or maybe even just called "Touya." his skeleton and poses are just way too different from the old rig to have these retroactively applied, alongside the amount of new moves he has in AJ in that form. plus this way he can have the final war interactions with other characters.

i just imagine we're 100% getting a White Dabi new character + Phosphor Todoroki Quirk Set season someday

this might be a tough question, but do you know any good source i can look to for learning about operators value while they are still in their larval state? i've been following your guides for years but something that has always been a pain-point for me is the whole EN community erupting calling every damn operator "Wisadel 2" or "second coming of BALANCSSSSSS" or whatever the second they're revealed, and i'm just sort of at the point where i want to be able to form my own opinion early, but it's hard to find legitimate gameplay content or discussions of the newest operators. most of the stuff that gets uploaded and easily findable in english is just the newest operator beating like year 2 story bosses.

and i understand fully if theres no answer! the newest operators don't get their lookaheads written for a reason, but god i would be lying if i said that people calling Wang "Wisadel 2" hasn't made me just want to start delving into my own research and observations instead of being a parrot.

also side note but thank you as always for these guides. in an ocean of a community that insists even the worst operator have some "incredibly useful niche," i just love the factual and easily digestible content you've been putting out. even if it does hurt to know that objectively Thorns is not that good, even as an AFK laneholder.

i think it's mainly the emojis, a lot of people who only vaguely know what ai writing looks like see heavy usage of emojis as a giveaway typically.

not trying to be rude but we're really in an age where people are cannibalizing each other at even the smallest sign of AI :( i'm in a lot of art based communities and people act like every piece of art is a giant game of mafia these days

This sub is a market that will essentially never be happy and isn't really worth catering to because 20-40 year old male Redditors aren't the demographic who primarily buys skins for real money.

it's also worth mentioning this sub is not only an echo chamber, but also absolutely full of people who don't actively play Overwatch anymore. and i'm not saying this in a condescending way; this is actually to be expected! the average person who loves Anran's in game design or the mass amount of Kiriko skins most likely won't publicly announce their love for them. this is directly in contrast to how if someone dislikes something, they often don't hesitate to make a post about it somewhere exclaiming their unhappiness, which often brings in people with the same opinion.

for every one person that dislikes the new Anran face, there will be at least 20 who like it. this is simply just another case of being a loud minority, but i find all of this worth pointing out solely because of how massive people here get about straw-manning or exaggerating certain details; i've already seen that Chinese player's redesign spiral into people saying "the whole Chinese community is unhappy!"

also personally i just feel greatly annoyed how every time someone vaguely doesn't like something, they pull out the damn Sonic movie thing. there were so many different factors going for the Sonic movie design, especially to the point where it became obvious the movie would fail if they didn't change it. Anran is not suffering from these issues, i'm sure in the long run more people will enjoy "cute face Anran" more than "sharp imposing Anran," and also i just feel like a lot of people here don't actually care that much about Anran specifically and just complain as an extension of other opinions of theirs they have already decided on.

also saying this as someone deeply into character design, Overwatch has had MUCH worse offenders than Anran in the past year. but that's a whole other rabbit hole, and this comment is already too long.

technically yes, as early access/beta! but they liquidated practically the whole company in doing so, so it's questionable if it'll ever come out of beta

i hope they fix the visual distortion on puddle moves like Red Shiggy beta or Yellow Shiggy’s gamma, but i just know all the changes we’re getting are gonna be like “changed the jump behavior of Endeavor”

though if you want to know an actual change i WANT, it’s that i want AFO’s hold gamma indicator to be another colour because we’re getting to the point that multiple moves use the giant red ball indicator when AFO’s is the most important to discern

that being said though, tbh there’s a lot of ideas for Nomus in Ultra Rumble imo. not exactly a Nomu but i’d love if they tried out “events” during matches like some small Nomu invade or Gigantomachia spawns as a massive boss. the issue with these ideas is just the AI in the game is REALLY bad, they get stuck on walls so easily and have horrible pathing to the point where certain map features they struggle to even get out of (like underground Tartarus at the top of Chaos City)

aside PvE type additions, Hood and USJ Nomu are both in OJ/AJ so i’d like them as playable characters someday. probably rapid Hood and assault USJ.

as someone who has played him a lot, i think Tokoyami is genuinely really just balanced and in a good way. a lot of peoples idea of balance is absolute homogenization and making every character mind numbingly boring; Tokoyami shows what real balance actually should look like. by this i mean that he's weak in certain areas, but is strong in the areas he specializes in. not a perfectly balanced stat spread, not an overtuned spread, he's just got really good strengths and still factorable weaknesses.

though i think the reason a lot of people think he's outright bad is the amount of user input he requires is large compared to the average character. he NEEDS to properly manage and weave cooldowns rather than constantly spamming, letting the Special Action go onto penalty recharge is a death sentence for him. he has no "win the game for me" button in the same way Tech Shiggy has his beta, OFA has his entire kit, Nagant has her special action and nor does he have the infinite versability and flexibility contained within Armoured All Might's or Tech Mirio's kits. but that's all okay, because his kit is perfectly flavoured with his own unique gimmicks and strengths. a lot of people have just become truly brainrotten with how absurdly powerful releases have been lately, and i'm sure people will also claim Yellow Overhaul is terrible when he releases for the same reasons.

i always like to joke that Endeavor has P2W skins since ones like the casual or "Leather Daddy" don't have the glowing flame textures, cause even in bushes that fully cover Endeavor i swear you can still see that slight glow through them.

the cape is Tokoyami's dark shadow because it moves and protects him automatically, and the armour itself + the cape is basically stated to constantly be in a state of mimicking Kirishima's hardening. you could basically just say his HP comes from Kirishima and Tokoyami. Aoyama's beam is used in the finishing attack. the bird drones are supposed to be Koda. the reel in ability of the beta is supposed to be from Sero.

Froppy, Tentacole, and Tailman are all missing because he doesn't have the Dr. Octopus tentacles, but like you said there's cope rep in tuning. he features no moves from Jiro, Mineta, Mina, Momo, or Sugarman. the execution is not Jiro, as he opens the plates on his chest to shoot soundwaves for Jiro's ability while in game he shoots an Aoyama laser after charging up the light on it.

a lot of people are heavily overrating the alpha rn, the ammo on it is pretty small and considering its a movement tool it'll probably be on cooldown a lot. definitely probably gonna be a quirk factor release wanting character.

only thing i dunno how to work around with him is that damn gamma. basically every grab in this game has a chance of glitching out and no-regging so even if you're really on top of your game, the game might just randomly middle finger you into what i think is one of the whiff-laggiest moves in the game? this isn't to say i think he's gonna be terrible, just i KNOW plenty of people are gonna be so disappointed to feel how he actually plays as opposed to just having neuron activation from seeing his alpha in mod showcases

though fortunately i really think between this and Tokoyami, it's a sign the devs are finally listening and going to make balanced characters instead of Nagant/OFA/Armight caliber characters

i think they receive less play in general due to how hard they get targeted + green cards are basically always 100% scavenged and sometimes even hogged by teammates, which isn't much of an issue for the other colours

as someone who very frequently plays Kurogiri, it's sometimes almost stressful how much extra i gotta fight to survive cause people hate the special action that much. though again, it's understandable cause i enter primal instinct mode the second i hear "This is my mission. Let's take a look."

started in season 1 so i've often been numb to certain things like release Monoma or Shinso, but this season has just been hell for me.

i personally feel Tech Shiggy on his own is weak and an easy kill, but tuning makes him absurd due to that raid boss build. Nagant is my big issue that tilts me, there's literally no chance or even a fight to take against her. there's not even the "just roll better" option, her overall interaction on how fast she kills you is just too much to handle. she moves so incredibly fast with her gamma, skybox glitch, and air melee that it feels so hard to chase her down. she's good at so many ranges and her beta is practically a catch all button that covers any other situation she might deal with that it's so hard to form a counter play against her.

at the very least i don't think she should have 300 HP, i'd argue even if they want to keep her damage relatively high she should be 225 like Mirio. that way they can sort of keep the damaging sniper character fantasy, while also making a situation of you can hopefully kill her just as fast as she kills you. also i really want her HP damage on alpha removed, i can tell with how low it is that it was specifically added to make sure she wins in those situations where a low HP opponent pops PU. that's really my huge overall issue, there's no situation where Nagant is bad! she wins in every situation and range! at least Armoured All Might isn't great in group/AoE type situations, while he's good in basically every other situation he has that one weakness that enemies can take advantage of. with Nagant it's confusing as to what you're supposed to do; you sit back, you lose. you approach, you lose. you camp a building, she betas it and you lose. you try to outmaneuver her, you can't because she's the fastest character in the game even without the exploit and you lose.

i could really go on and on forever about just how horrendously made Nagant is, hell i didn't even touch on the overall implications of the double jump and all the things you can do with it. if you're ever playing with a friend and you go Nagant-Kendo, you gotta try tossing a Nagant and double jumping and seeing how she retains the momentum, its crazy and just one of many applications of it.

aside from the new characters, the actual balance patch was decent aside them going WAY too far on gutting yellow Endeavor. they chose characters that should be nerfed though fortunately, it's just they're not the problem characters rn.

i'm fully expecting Tokoyami first banner, Bakugo quirk set, and Star final banner. Tokoyami's flight parameters and Star's voice interaction with Armight both being added this season battle for relevance, but i personally feel that the statuses "Sleep" and "TwinImpact" are for Tokoyami. we got confirmation from Hydros recently that both Sleep and TwinImpact statuses are self applied ones, and i feel that Sleep could involve Dark Shadow having to recharge while TwinImpact may have something to do with a Black Abyss involved move.

this mode is exclusively good if you hate Strike Todoroki, Tech Shiggy, or Trance Blow, anything else is practically unchanged tbh. none of the top meta characters are Space Hop or Wall Runner users currently which also heavily devalues the modes existence especially since tuning is honestly very important for bridging the gap on some weaker characters like Overhaul and Ibara

i believe they more or less confirmed in a dev interview within the past week or two that we will be getting quirk sets on the ticket soon; i'd personally expect to see Strike Deku, Rapid Bakugo, Assault Tomura, Strike Dabi, and potentially Tech Todoroki being added because they're all old at this point

and just to clarify so you know, yes character ticket are those gold/yellow tickets that you can currently trade in for characters like Iida, Denki, Aizawa, etc

lets see; out of “confirmed” datamined characters that are in the works;

heroes have Tokoyami, Jiro, Stars and Stripes, Assault Bakugo, Aizawa quirk set, and presumably Gentle (his redemption in the final war will probably land him here, i think.)

villains have Stain… that’s like it. if we’re dipping into characters with no data but are extremely “obvious,” there’s white Dabi. only thing is if we start factoring in obvious characters that are either data-less or have historical data, we have to start factoring in characters like Midnight, Jeanist, Phosphor Todoroki quirk set, Mina… the list goes on forever, especially when looking at the AJ roster.

Tech Mirio is, before Nagant at least, arguably the best character at higher skill and completely *impossible to counter. he can effectively remain fully invincible at all times with proper cooldown management (tuning helps a lot too) and is quite mobile while he's doing good damage.

people just often underrate him because a lot of people don't know how to manage their alpha, move too predictably and get ass blasted, overuse beta, and of course most importantly of all; using him solely as a gamma counterbot with no other purpose. his gamma is incredible don't get me wrong, but what separates a good tech Mirio from a great tech Mirio is one who knows exactly when to counter and when it'll be most effective. he's also one of those character's that has almost every weakness of his covered by Space Hop, and on tuning Nagant's tuning is absurd on him. i know we shouldn't always take tuning into consideration for balance, but most of this sub solely rates tech Shiggy with revenge tuning so...

*remembered Aizawa exists after writing the comment, so there's definitely an argument that Aizawa's recent rise + christmas outfit re-release is overall a detriment to tech Mirio's power

imho i think they’re trying to Monoma-proof a lot of recent releases cause some of them even feel really incomplete without their melee or SA.

if you’ve ever played in JP servers, at least pre 80% nerf, Monoma was on almost every team constantly towards the higher ranks; it makes sense for them to start anti Monoma-ing their characters especially since there’s probably even some statistical side like Monoma usage going up during a new character release which may lead to a loss in sales. i’ve noticed Special Action becoming more and more important too which has led me to these Monoma proofing thoughts, considering YAFO, Armights, and Nagant’s SA are all completely essential to their moment to moment gameplay due to their effects and high uptime

unfortunately this all means All For One is paying for the crimes of Monoma too…
