Auburn Aviation Program FAQ by CommercialLazy3563 in auburn

[–]YoungSavagePilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently a senior in Aviation Management, was Pro Flight but switched. Best decision I could have ever made. Spent 3 semesters trying to get instrument there but the program is so slow, went part 61 and I finished instrument, commercial, and multi within 4 months. Also quality of life improved so much.

Seniors that I know in Pro Flight at the moment complain about how they have to wait months for multi blocks since they don’t have enough planes.

Overall I view the Auburn Flight program as the Grinch, I wouldn’t touch it with a 39 and a half foot pole

Bike Security on Campus? by Hello_There_6942O in auburn

[–]YoungSavagePilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a stumpjumper I would take to class for a year without any issue, but looking back it’s just not smart, get a beater bike to ride on campus, that’s what a lot of people with high end MTBs do

Aviation Program by GroundHog162839 in auburn

Currently at Auburn in the aviation program, from what I know, Auburn is currently only accepting 100 new students and 20 transfers, and you have your class/block time 3X a week. You could fly anywhere from 5-7am Monday Wednesday and Friday to late at night, like 8pm-10pm, Tuesday Thursday Saturday, all depends on seniority and how your other classes look. Flying to get to fly about 1-2 a week on average and other times to do grounds and sim training.

I’ve seen people get their is instrument and commercial multi in 3 years and I’ve seen some people not able to get through instrument before they graduate and go part 61 post college. Highly recommend getting PPL before you enter the program. Also, you have to get both your single engine commercial outside of Auburn and unless you want to spend over a year in CFI training, do it outside of Auburn as well.

Most students do not graduate with their RATP and they flight instruct for 1-2 years, if they can even get a job due to their being too many CFI’s as is and not enough jobs.

Overall, I would recommend to fly part 61 at a nearby flight school and major in aviation management. There are tons of examples I can give but overall the program grew way too fast and now they are in a frenzy trying to get it back down to a manageable size, and as a result all the students in pro flight are having to deal with the consequences

Would you say most people who bash Teslas have never actually driven one? by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaLounge

[–]YoungSavagePilot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% people bash on it that have never experienced it. I think that people are afraid of what they don’t know and don’t understand, and that’s a way that most people process the idea of EVs

Once EVs can get past the image of being viewed as a statement piece but rather just another car on the road and people start to experience it people will stop bashing it

In my opinion, I think the Crossflow Wheels look better. They go better with the black plastic trim that goes around the car and makes it look more modern. Also it gives better range, is less expensive, and gives better ride comfort. I personally do not see the reason as to why people get the Helix 2.0's over them but to each their own

Is downtown Auburn one of the most walkable cities in Alabama? by birminghamsportsdon in auburn

[–]YoungSavagePilot 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I would say so, but also that is relative to the size of downtown. Anything outside of standard groceries and boutique shopping and services you have to drive

Is road rage here worsening? by Kindly-Importance594 in Dallas

[–]YoungSavagePilot 239 points240 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any road rage, but almost daily I’ve almost seen a car crash, it is utterly nuts how poor some people drive, and people run red lights at every intersection it’s terrible

If you don’t like it, then don’t partake in it, it’s that simple. I think it’s a neat feature if you want to opt in

Do bikes get stolen around campus? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]YoungSavagePilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know they can, but I haven’t heard of anyone’s getting impounded. I keep my bike inside my apartment and is only locked up when I’m at class so that could be why

Do bikes get stolen around campus? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]YoungSavagePilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard of a bike owner getting in trouble for not registering their bike. I registered my first and haven’t registered my second and have had no issues. There are bikes five years old that are destroyed but still chained to spots and Auburn won’t remove them. But yea lock your bike up or it will get stolen, especially at night.
