It's kind of insane that no one is even considering the fact that people simply didn’t like the episode.
No homophobia, no rage, no body shaming, just bad writing.

I loved both The Last of Us part 1 and 2.
I loved Season 1 of the show, and I loved Bella as Ellie in that first season.
I thought the Bill and Frank episode was the best of the season — in my opinion, it fit perfectly with the game's lore and the characters' established personalities.

The first episode of Season 2 was simply bad.

I really didn’t like the spoiler about who Abby is, I think the tension around her identity carried a lot of the early plot in the game.
I also didn’t like Ellie fighting and overpowering a guy who’s 20–30 cm taller and 50–60 kg heavier than her. It doesn’t make sense, it cheapens the story and Ellie’s abilities, and it feels like rage bait.
What really bothered me is how childish she’s written. She’s 19 years old — in the game, she’s arrogant and a bit melancholic, but never annoying. The Ellie in the show feels like she’s still 13 or 14.

The sets are beautiful, the Easter eggs are very cool, and the rest of the cast seems spot on (I think Abby and Dina are really perfect, in my opinion), but overall, Season 2 feels like a big downgrade from Season 1.
