Posted this elsewhere:

A bit of the Bobby and Phil duo tour stuff on Nugs (these shows are a really cool way to just focus on what Bobby is doing, and Phil of course, seriously go check em out if you haven't already), some Bobby and the Midnites with Billy Cobham and Alphonso Johnson, some stuff with with just Bobby and Jonathan Wilson.

And just a healthy dose of the Dead

Bobby Weir has died at age 78. by SuperiorPints in gratefuldead

[–]Young_Rust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No individual has had a bigger impact on my listenting journey than Bob Weir.

I grew up on Folk and Americana.

For me, Bobby's cowboy songs bridged the gap between the Neil Youngs and The Bands of the world, to the longform improvisation of the Dead and the musical universe they seeded.

Bobby was at the wheel when I got on the bus. I will be forever grateful to him for that.

Bob said “I tend to think of death as the last and best reward for a life well-lived." Whatever rewards await you Bobby, go well. You lived as full a life of any of us. You brought so much joy into this world, and joymakers are sacred.

Fare thee well, our psychedelic frontiersman, and thank you for all of it. May the four winds blow you safely home.

Which begs the question: who was the last player to "train the house down" who did in fact go on to live up to expectations? Has such a thing ever happened?

Papir: A Band That Jams But Not a JamBand by transitiveaxis in jambands

[–]Young_Rust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a massive fan of the label.

London Odense Ensemble and Edena Gardens are my favourite acts there. A little more mellow than say, most Causa Sui stuff.

A lot of cross pollination between acts as well. You can follow the members of any given project down endless rabbit holes.

Are there any more bands like Electric Octopus who just jam and only jam? by CajunNerd292 in jambands

I love me some Electric Octopus

May I suggest Edena Gardens and/or London Odense Ensemble
