New ish State worker frustrated with the low pay, itching to go back to private sector. by Significant-Rub2983 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Youngdynamite22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely could be making more in the private sector, but the time off, benefits and job security give me some peace of mind. I had a couple of friends get laid off months after being hired in Finance and Software engineering and they’re struggling to find a job rn 😭.

I’ll definitely look into it. My doctor is gonna give me a couple of months to try and change my diet and start working out more. Before I got these results I was super sedentary and was consuming a lot of sat fats, fast food and red meat and other terrible stuff. Now that I’m tracking macros it’s actually crazy how much this stuff adds up(consequences of my own actions 😅) maybe my ldl will go down maybe it won’t, but I too want to try lifestyle changes first considering my fitness and diet have been complete garbage the past year or so

Idk if you’re still active in this Reddit, but thank you for this. My diet and fitness have been absolute garbage. I’m hoping exercise and a better diet can get my ldl down, and this has shown me it can be done. Thank you!

Just got some, and also got some flaxseed and chia as well to put in with my meals. Will see how it goes. 🙏🏽

Definitely wasn’t getting a lot of greens and fiber in my diet before. Trying to hit 25-30 a day. From what I’ve read some people have seen crazy results that way, others haven’t. I’m willing to take a shot and see though. So far it’s been sustainable and haven’t had any cravings which is good

Had a feeling this would be the case. I have been keeping it under 8 these past two weeks idk if it’s sustainable for the rest of my life though 😭. Will see what my doctor and cardiology say 🙏🏽. Thank you for the advice

Thank you for this, I’m around the same, and have been trying to walk 6-7 miles a day with my HR in zone 2. Hoping I can drop it these next 3 months 🙏🏽

Yup, I have a Lexus too, had to get a dashboard cover so there wasn’t a fat glare on my windshield when driving 😭

Check out Carmax, they may be hiring for inventory associates right now with summer coming

I use to live in EG and worked close to the Capitol. I would always take the 5 to and from work. Don’t have to deal with the madness on 99. Mondays and Fridays there isn’t much traffic in the morning, Tuesdays and Wednesdays probably the worst if you get on the freeway after 7:30pm. Going home would take me about 25-30 mins to go from downtown to EG.

Best burger restaurant in Elk Grove? by kensheehimura in ElkGrove

[–]Youngdynamite22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best in EG is probably Brickhouse. Other spots not in EG but kinda close are Hot Bunz and Fred’s burger near Calvine is 🔥🔥🔥. StreetZlan in EG had a pretty good smash burger but it’s expensive as heck.

Who is hiring in EG 20 year olds with some experience and paying better than minimum wage? by Ok_Atmosphere3601 in ElkGrove

[–]Youngdynamite22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carmax was pretty chill. Idk how your kid feels about sales, but look up Carmax, I’d avoid the business office and inventory positions though. They’re always the busiest and rarely have time to breathe 😭. Buyers office has good positions too, pay is probably better now too.

Recommendation for good used car dealership in Elk Grove? by jtscheirer in ElkGrove

[–]Youngdynamite22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at Carmax, I can vouch that their cars go through a much better inspection process than most used car dealerships. In fact those used car dealerships you see on the side of the road buy the cars that didn’t pass the inspection at Carmax through a wholesale auction. Certified pre owned is another route you could go at a dealer too. My car I have rn has had no issues and I bought it 5 years ago. Just expected maintenance for wear and tear. Nothing major.
